New Octavia Elegance Estate

Featured Replies

Dad's just bought one! :D

Traded in the Fabia VRS for a brand new 2.0 TDI PD 140 '57' plate Octavia Elegance Estate, Flamenco Red with some good options...

Must admit, they've come on alot better in terms of build quality from the previous Octavia!

Anybody else got one??

Anything we should look out for? I have been reading lots of threads so know about maxidot and the aux stereo stuff and problems with the flywheel - the latter shouldn't affect late build dates iirc

Will get a good picture up over the weekend! :)

There's some pictures of mine @ http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/opinions-flamenco-red/86448/ a few posts down.

I've been very please with mine (MY08, 07 Reg) with a couple of minor things I have noticed:

- can't really see the point of the variable level boot - it just seems to take up space and if you do put anything in the lower level you have to clear the upper level first. Its quite nice to sit on (and change the baby) but otherwise unnecessary I think.

- I chose the normal estate over the Scout because of the fuel consumption figures, but so far unconvinced. I had a scout as a courtesy car for a bit (with 2000 miles on the clock) and averaged 46mpg on the motorway quite easily. Mine doesn't beat that by much if at all. I'd be interested to know what you get.

- I added some cill protectors - the standard Octavia ones are easy to fit.

- Done 1500 miles and no sign of using oil noted by other posters, but the dip stick is ******* hard to read.

- If I get some spare cash I'd like to change the front bumper for the Sport or VRS version, which I think looks far better.

Otherwise a terrific car - it eats family clutter and distance with ease, doesn't use much fuel and is fun to drive. Its a pretty good combo.

Les.

Just changed a 150bhp fsi Elegance Estate for a 140bhp pdi dsg L&K Estate. The pdi is a vastly superior car IMO - far more torque and vastly better fuel consumption (45mpg compared to 33mpg). It's now done 800 miles and used no oil.

I agree about the variable level boot as it actually uses up boot space. I removed it on both cars. It's very heavy and only really useful for sliding in heavy objects such as sacks of cement! I bought some cheap carpeting to cover the exposed bits in the boot.

Apart from a few rattles I'm quite pleased so far but it's early days.

Had a major discovery today - the variable floor thing folds up to create - a full depth bit nearest the hatch, an almost full height divider, and another compartment next to the back seats - good for shopping.

You also keep the wine bottle racks on both sides.

Wow I'm nearly converted, I still think I'll take it out.

My false floor was removed on day one, my boot is always full of tools and the false floor just nicks valuable room. It's quite heavy as well so it offsets the weight of some of my gear.

I have an 07 reg Elegance estate and am still absolutely delighted with it - oil light came on for the first time this weekend, but only managed to fit half a litre in - not bad after 7000 miles! I do find the variable boot floor useful - I carry dogs around, so I find it useful to store the parcel shelf under the boot floor when I've got the dogs in (one is a large greyhound lurcher, so he hits his head on the folded-back parcel shelf if I leave it in!).

Can't find anything bad to say about anything else yet!

I always check the oil weekly on mine, rather than taking the chance relying on the oil light. One day the oil light could fail, is there a low oil warning buzzer on the Octy's?

Must say the boot thingy is handy - put wellies and coats underneath and then shopping on top!

Colour is great though, its got sports suspension and upgraded Pegasus alloys so looks the bee's knee's! :D
