Question about original front+rear parking sensors

Featured Replies

If somebody own Octavia equipped with factory front and rear parking sensors - where located beepers for front and rear sensors? Does they sound from one place around middle of a car or front "beep-beep-beep" from dash board and rear - from another place?

I have only rear sensors and plan to add front - for me it is important to know does I need additional beeper or not. The list of parts say "yes", the wiring diagramms say "no"

Thank you.

I too only have the rear ones but I can see the front of my car :)

I would have thought that the one warning device would do TBH.

I have front & rear senors. Not sure where the beep come from (the radio??) but front and rears come from the same place - they are different "beeps".

All also show up as a small picture on teh "radio" screen showing how close you are getting. beeps get more frequent as you get closer.

I'll let you know Wednesday when the new motor arrives!

The buzzer is behind the trim panel on the B-pillar, not sure which side, I assume drivers.

I thought the factory fit sensors used the stereo speakers and usually use the side that the object is nearest to.

I thought the PDC beeper was in the passenger side B pillar  IF factory fit.

There is a dedicated output test for it in VAG-COM.

There have been shocking stories about dealer fit sensors :(

it doesnt on mine. it definately comes from one place (probably b pillar as above) Thats a really good idea about it coming from the direction of the speakers though, kind of like dolby digital for the sensors! As above they have differnet tones for front or back, front being higher.

OK then, just the VW's that do that then.

Obviously the Skoda system is a tad more basic than the VW/AUDI offering

I'd bet it wouldnt take much for it to do the same.

More likely with the MFD2? (common on Skoda's and VW's)

that would be good as have a mfd2 and vag-com :) just need a vag-com genius to see if its possible!

Thank you. I will try to build front system without additional buzzer.

In my previous car (Citroen C5-II 2005) beeps of parking aid sound from car audio system - it was very nice, because you always "hear" the dirrection of a emergency. (for example, "front right") and the quality of sound was fine.

In VAG cars sadly used additional small beepers under the trim. For Passat - front and rear beepers (one under the dashboard, and one in the luggage place) and for Skoda as slider and sworrall said - one with different tones

Agree with whats been said - the front and rear 'beep's are a different tone and seem to come from the same source near the front.

Mine is the same beep and appears to come from boot area, will double check later.

Thanks again

Mine is the same beep

I found that "the same" or "different" beeps for front and rear sensors set by VAG COM - you may choose "tone" for front and rear system separately
