Star Performance, switchable ECU?

Featured Replies

Alright guys just wondering if anyone has or knows about a Star Performance Switchable map?

Seems my car has got one and was wondering how to switch it??

OBDII port it says??

I think im in the sport mode at the minute (175bhp)

Heres the link for the site

STAR PERFORMANCE

Hi Jasc,

Instructions for DPT when using the FIRST time.

Plug in the unit to port and turn on ignition

The amber light will come on, now push and hold till the light flashes , then release the button.

The amber light will flash, leave it until it stops flashing, about 3 mins, when the green light is constant it means it has coded itself to the ECU box and stored the standard map.

Instructions for switching between maps

A light tap on the button will allow you to switch between software, (Green light = Standard software, Red light = Modified) If you select the red light just hold the button in for a moment until it starts to flash, release the button and wait a few minutes for flashing to stop and Green & Red lights to stay on constantly, Turn ignition off and remove unit.

To reload standard software, plug unit back into Diag port and turn ignition on, select green light and press and hold till green light flashes, wait 3 mins for constant green light, turn off ignition and remove unit.

WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE UNIT WHILE LIGHT IS FLASHING

Hope that helps you out

Thing is i bought the car from a dealers so i didnt get anything with it, it was previously listed on ebay as being mapped by star performance so thats how i know + its considerably quicker than a standard VRS.

???

Do star performance hold records of the cars they have done. should i phone them??

If they have done it they will probably have records of it, IIRC they store info by reg no and not the customer name but I may be wrong.

If its a one hit map it will just be on the car and thats it, no switching available, if it was switchable you should have the DPT switch box (about the size of a ten packet of cigarettes, with LED's on one end and an OBDII connector on the other.

Either way I would give Jim a wee call and I'm sure he will be able to confirm what the status of your motor is.

Cheers

The previous owner made a point of stating it was switchable from 130 to 175bhp. He traded it to a garage so possibly kept the tuning device.

Anyway my car is in the fast mode. i think

Cheerz for your help, i will give him a call

Yep, they're a good bunch at Star so I'm sure they'll be able to help.

So are you saying you haven't got the switching box? Not really very switchable then is it?! If the car was sold in that way....

No i havent got the box unless its hidden somewhere.

I bought it from a main dealer after the old owner traded it in, he probaly left the box out to avoid any hassle.

Supose it doesnt mater as its in 'sport' mode anyway
