VRS Pipercross problem

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Just had my first mod delivered, a pipercross filter and tried fitting it tonight, thinking it would be a straight in job.

It doesnt fit tho. It is physically the same dimension, but when I try to put the clips on the left hand side, it doesn't line up at the screws, approx 10mm out of alignment.

In tryi'n to make it fit, I have damaged the rear left clip on the top half of the air box, and made two gouges in the pipercross rubber seal at the top.

It would seem that the seal has a less sloped profile on the inside, and the top of the box is trying to seal on too much rubber. I've tried using WD40 to help it slide on, but no joy.

Any Ideas.....?

Cheers, Kev.

I think there is a small lip on mine, it needs a couple of goes so you are confident with it being shut.

Try fitting one with a strut brace on if you fancy a challenge!

I had one of these in mine... was a bit harder to get the box back together after fitting, but it still went on OK with a bit of persuasion......

could try cutting the seal down a bit?

I think it's a bit dodgy to try that, I may end up cutting through the filter and losing the seal/filtration.

It's pitch dark outside now, so can't try anything tonight anyway.

I had my mate try a minute ago aswell, and he couldn't get it to work either....

Mine went in ok... maybe its a defect with yours?

There was a chap who had similar problems on an Octy with one of these filters and I believe it was returned to Awesome to investigate. Not sure what the outcome was....

I fitted a Pipercross to my motor, had some troble as well. I think its just a case of taking your time, working it GENTLY back into the clips. I wouldnt cut it down as you will lose the seal. Its a fiddley job but taking your time is probably the best advice you can get mate.

Mines dropped into place first time and was very easy to change, clips slotted in fine and screws were no problem. :D

Could be an fault with the filter you have been issued.
