my octavia 4x4 has a problem wheni put my foot down in any gear the revs go up quickly but not going anywhere that quick. it feels like im putting my foot on the clutch while driving

That's your clutch worn out.

Time for a new one.

How many miles has it done?

its only done 49000 and only had the car since sunday. its been fine till today

Hmmm , could be that the previous owner knew the clutch was on it's way out and decided to get rid - these things don't happen overnight

the took car round the block and it was fine then 5 mins later went to my girlfriends house and it started to do it

almost certainly clutch slip , unfortunatly

And dont these things have a dual mass flywheel which the clutch ruins when it goes? Could cost you a few quid this.

that al i need as i had it stage 1 revo chip yesterday

Youve found your answer then.

found my answer?

To your slipping problem.

Thats the problem with a re-map, it will show up the weakness in the system :(

oh i c so if i dint have my car remapped then the clutch would of stayed the same rather then slipping

It probably wouldve gone but who knows.

I would have thought that your clutch was on it's way anyway, maybe not that noticeable normally, but the extra power from the map has shown it up in abig way. The dual mass flywheel should be ok but don't quote me on that. Normally if th DMF goes it takes the clutch with it but I don't think it kills the dmf when the clutch goes.

HTH

My clutch went after my Revo at 31k, no problems whatsover before. Only cost me £650 so thats ok - not. I suspect the clutches are not up to the job because being 4x4 the wheels don't spin therefore the new uprated torque is too much as there is no "give". Got the Spanish diesel one put in took the garage 8+hours and a lot of swearing at me!

Where's Bengie??????????????.................................LOL

i can make mine wheel spin :D

i can get mine to wheel spin on launch sometimes too, i took gerry out for a spin at the first JKM RR day and when launched the car kinda stepped sideways a bit :D

i have also had the rears spinning coming out of corners if your heavy enough with gear shifts and/or have enough power.

this was my first thread and just wanna say thanks to all you guys. you all know your stuff looks like i have a lot to learn lol

:D

its all good baby!

I know nothing ;)

I didn't mean they never spin, but if your clutch is near its limit then dumping an extra 50 horses and lots of torque on it will not help. On 2 wheel drive the wheels would probably spin more often, but 4 wheel drive doesn't so much - the whole point of it isn't it? Therefore puts more load onto clutch. Just drive really slow and it'll be ok - oh wait though what was the remap for?

i was only messin mate, obviously a 4x4 puts mroe stress on the drive train, hence me having my third gearbox fitted :o

Even worse than clutches:eek:
