Chipping ?

Featured Replies

I have the "offer" of some money to go faster so I'm thinking of chipping the VRs. Two options, one is a long trip to Jabba and have their rolling road remap, and the other is a shorter trip to a Superchips dealer nearby and have theirs. Price is about the same, Jabba claim 10-20hp more.

Anyone any opinions or advice ?

I'm looking for something around 160-190hp.

Custom map by Jabba. Probably find jabba will keep the power to the red line were the superchip one will fade away after 4K.

Another vote for Jabba, the drive home will make it worth it.:rofl::D:D

You will not get 190bhp from just a remap.

160 170 is realistic.

why not try angeltuning.co.uk my fabia is booked with them next wed. they come to you and you get a 14day cool down also its £300

another vote for jabba from me got a custom 1 done a fortnight ago bloody brill very quick now

All depends on where you're from. I wouldn't be bothered to travel an extra 100 miles, if a tuner is local and very well recommended, and in most cases ' better .'

Whats your budget?

We offer members our standard mapping for your model for £275 all in. Power will be 170bhp+. If you want a Dyno run too, so you can see what power your Fabia is pushing, this is £300 all in.

We also offer a full custom map for £425 all in, which will give you 178bhp+ with stronger torque.

With stronger custom maps, torque is higher at lower revs, so if you haven't uprated your clutch, you may want to stick with the standard mapping.

We let all customers test drive the car before paying, so we can guarantee you will be happy

Thanks for the reply.

Budget is anything up to £1.5K but I want to use some of that to replace the diesel soaked banana skins that the previous owner put on as tyres as well as some suspension work, so realistically around £5-700 for this work.

I'm not after mega-power, more usable power for overtaking on a-roads etc. I never do 1/4 miles or TLGP, although I may feel more temped afterwards...

Are you suggesting I would need a new clutch whatever the conversion ?

Where are you based ? - Edit - Wolverhampton. Might be a bit far, I'm based in Edinburgh. The distance is thing I'm wondering about Jabba too. Not bothered about driving it etc. but its getting the time off at the mo...

Also thanks for the other replies, I'll take a look at angel too.

One other question, do these guys have a limit on mileage - mines at 25K just now, just off for a pre-crimbo service too.

Another vote for Angel here, they travelled down to Cumbria from Scotland to do mine. Best £300 i've ever spent and mine is very quick now especially uphills. Don't worry about the mileage, mine was done at 62k and its nearly at 70k now with no problems apart from the face ache from the permanently fixed grin! Go Angel!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Angel did both of mine at my house here in Edinburgh ! :)

hav any of you with angel maps had a rr result?

i'd vote for jabba personally myself just something about them when i have spoke to them they seem to know what there talking about and dont hesitate to give you a answer

Surely Star performance is the obvious choice given your location?

Personally I'd only go somewhere where I could get a before and after RR result.

Yes, I'd say Star is your local tuner, and also, I'm sure Jabba has a sister company somewhere in Scotland. Worth a look on JabbaSport - Specialists In Forced Induction to check where they are.

It's these guys

Yeah, thats right, a few guys on uk-mkivs have had Jabba maps ad Bedrock. They get quite a good reputation amongst Scottish Dubbers I think.

Check out scottish VAG for some local opinions.

STAR PERFORMANCE

rolling road etc

Keep yer muny in Scotland :-)

They even do track days at Knockhill

They do my servicing for me, not ventured to tuning yet! and an excellent job well done

God its been busy this week - which is why going south may be tricky.

Anyhoo. Angel looks pretty good and not too expensive but I would prefer a RR result before and after just to be sure. Star looks promising so I may give those guys a call and see if they can "do" me in January...

Follow up question, anyone got a recommendation for insurers ? I'm pretty sure "only in Indian our call centres are" Norwich Union are unlikely to be interested...

I have mucho NCB and clean licence (for now).

Gotta vote for Jabbasport, I was a vRS novice when I went there. They were helpful, fast and pleasant. Also had xbox, coffee and comfy chairs. I asked how I would know the difference and they said I'd phone them. Not understanding, I just laughed a little and left. 2 minutes later after the first straight under national speed limits I rang them back. "Good morning Jabbasport" said the man. "F***ING HELL" I shouted down the hands free. "That's what most people say, sir" he coolly replied.

Nick, did you go for a generic or custom map?
