Ayone purchased one from the States or via ebay? How much, what do you think, anything to look out for, anything not working on the phone after an unlock?

Cheers

Loads of information on hotukdeals as someone posted cheap way of getting one.I think one small problem is that apple have done a software update which not be downloaded if you have a unlocked phone as it locks alot of the features up.

Loads of vids on youtube on how to unlock it.

Or just wait a couple of weeks and get one from o2... im half-considering it because they will allow me to change contracts for an iphone one

But (as reported) you will be tied into an 18 month contract with minimum minutes and SMS, plus you have to pay £269 for the phone. In total you are shelling out £900 after 18 months have elapsed. I' rather just buy an imported one and stick any SIM in it.

If you buy an ex AT&T one from the states, make sure you don't update to iTunes 1.1 as it will not only relock the phone but blocks it. Believe me I know.

Maybe I'll just get a phone PDA :) Less hassle......

Might be worth waiting... clicky...

Unless it's offered for free I'm not interested... that and I can't see the touch screen keypad being easy to txt on...

EDIT: DOH beat me to it :(

I heard that there were several other countries in the EU which have similar laws to France when it comes to locking them to a network.

That said I suppose they will keep the price high.

I think it's also rumoured that there will be a new one out soon which is 3g - maybe worth waiting a while?

Jobs did say that a 3g iPhone is on the way in the new year...

As much as i want one, i am sick to death of big chunky phones that try and do everything.. hence the reason im after something small and simple.. like the samsung X820

Samsung Mobile UK - Samsung X820 (SGH-X820) - Phone Models

which for some stupid reason orange has just discontinued..

:iagree:

ATM I quite fancy a Nokia N76.. but last I looked none of the networks were offering. :(

Looked at one on the CPW the other day as the GF is after a new phone, it's HUGE!. She has a little flip Samsung at the minute and if you compared the two side by side the N76 is massive. It's very thin but really wide, I suppose if you are used to a RAZR you would find it ok.

I've not seen one in the flesh yet just pics, either way it's gotta be smaller than my N80...

SWMBO has been using RAZR's for years now, love the design, hate the OS :thumbdwn:

There is a new model out now, Samsung F210. Same sort of thing, now thinner with a three row key pad instead of the two row. New model gets a 2 meg camera, expandable memory blah blah blah. Nice little phone:thumbup:

And probably more functional :D

I had a play with several Iphones when in the states in August and found them to be a bit flimsy and tbh a gimmick. A friend of mine out there has had one since launch and he is not that happy with it so he stuck it up for sale on another forum I belong to.

I'm using a HTC Trinity, with WM6, 3G, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS with a 4GB memory card I have movies, music, good internet access and there is a great community on xda developers coming out with tweaks and software all the time.

Without high speed data imho the I-phone is a bit of a folly, maybe that will change if a 3g / hsdpa enabled i-phone arrives?
