Mobile PAC code, how long to wait.

Featured Replies

Phoned O2 earlier today to get the PAC code, so I can change from O2 to T-Mobile and keep my number. They are sending it via text message, but as yet I have not got anything. Has anyone done this before, how long before they got the text. The reason for the change, o2's crappy data allowance. On T-Mobile Web'n'walk I can have 1GB data per month for £7.50, for the same amount on o2 you get a small 200MB.

Usually within 24hrs has been my experience. They'll probably quote upto 5 days. I would imagine there's a maximum allowed time in which they have to supply it was well, as there is with broadband MAC codes. I don't know off hand but Google may assist :)

Not sure about time for a PAC code, but I tried to get a MAC code from BT this week so I can change my broadband supplier - finally got it off the 9th person I spoke to

Sounds like you are making a move in the right direction though - I'm on T-Mobile and I think the combination of their Flext tarrif and web'n'walk is a great deal.

I gave up trying to get the PAC code from Orange and decided to go for a new number. Had been with Orange for about 8 years and finally made the move to T-Mobile for the Flext and Web n Walk (£7.50) :D

As long as you don't want a phone signal in cumbria you will be fine, still orange ain't much better.

Just to update,

I got my pac code from O2 and got the contract from T-Mobile last weekend. One small issue, the number transfer wasnt put through by the shop despite the PAC code being entered on the contract. Sorted out through T-Mobile customer services this afternoon, so the transfer is now scheduled for 12/11/07. Until this happens, I have an unconditional redirect on the o2 contract munching through the free minutes.

they should normally give it to you there and then, unless vodafone who put you through to their retentions team ;)

Was there not something in the news about this recently? I think that it was something to do with how slow the UK's companies are in handing out PAC and MAC codes compared to the rest of europe. I think it was Ireland where codes can be had within 2 hours.
