respect Decron , note to self , must try harder to get a wheel up

had loads of photos taken , not one with the rear wheel in the air , maybe they haven't been from the right angle :(

I take that's the effect of the RARB, cocking a back wheel? They must make the rear end really stiff compared to standard. :D

all these ARB being sold for the back end of the fabia is quite worrying i think, not knocking them but they have a tendancy to fall over if going sideways and some of you are talking about how great it is getting the back end out lift off over steer. lift off oversteer is by far the most dangerous form of over steer as you have virtually no control of it, brake more and it gets worse. proper oversteer from rear drive is much easier to control as you are pushing the back end out rather than trying to hold it in.

If you've driven a Fabia VRS without any form of suspension mods, you'll know the meaning of worrying. Coming off/on power and cornering can be quite alarming if it suddenly lurches, as mine used to do. The rear ARB calms the rear end down and though it can and does promote a more oversteery balance, the way it manages transitions more than makes up for it. Predictability, that's what it adds.

IMO VAG went a bit skinflint on the VRS, Polo and Ibiza.

If you want to know the ultimate effect of not fitting a rear ARB (albeit in completely different chassis), go look up the Chevrolet Corvair. Had a tendency to dig in the outside wheel rim and roll.

Dammit, all this is making me want one. John, I'm having a go in yours on Sunday. :D

Not interested in more straight line speed....the vRS has more than enough to get me into trouble as it is with the standard map.....I just want a more flingable car.

Trouble is I'm with Direct Line and they'll no doubt sting me for it. Can't change until next June as I'll lose 6 months worth of no claims if I do. Anyone declared a RARB to Direct Line and know what their reaction was £££ wise?

I've owned the type r for 10 months now and I just cant bond with it.

The steering lacks feel, the handbrake strength is dire (a common problem) and the gearbox is fiddly at times. The speed factor is great but you have to hammer the hell out of it! Granted the results are awesome but stopping the bugger is an effort, braking force is not that effective (cross-drilled discs fitted btw)and really gearing down severely.

Once the warranty has expired on the fabia I shall be purchasing the ARB to make up for some loss of handling performance which I'm use to curently

Warranty hasn't been an issue on mine, its been in 3 times for 3 seperate issues.

Granted they may be funny if its something to do with the rear suspension but it wont affect the rest of the motor. :D

Mine's been on for nearly three weeks now and I absolutely love it. The front end has become so much sharper to turn in that I've found myself clipping apexes (curbs) because of years of allowing for understeer.

Coupled with FSD's it's made it a new car for me. Still undecided whether to fit the Eibachs or not.

haha yup no problems, if you think u can handle the power.

O the joys of being with ensign. Ring them up, "i want to put a rear anti roll bar on my car and was wondering how much the premium would go up"

Guess how much it went up........................... zero :D

Well chuffed. while i was on i enquired about a FMIC and hybrid turbo, again the price stayed the same. Apparently i can mod to my hearts/ wallets content and as long as i tell them there is no cost......... Bargain

Swine...... tis not fair.

I reckon it'll be a £140 hike in premium and a splodge on the excess. Proper con.

As for the power I'll tootle around very gently so as not to get jealous over the remap aswell as the RARB. You don't have to go fast on roundabouts to feel good handling. :D

Just been out in the wet in mine. Its bloody scary in the wet, Got alot of sideways action

Must swap the tyres on the back, they are getting alittle bald with all this sliding around

I think you have hit the nail square on the head there Vindaloo. I must admit thats my only real niggle with my Furby, and to be honest its something that scares me and at the moment has sort of dampened my spirited driving flames.

I rememeber during one spirited drive I went into a bend on understeer as planned. I had loads of room on the road and there was no risk of me understeering into a watery grave; however midway through the bend I slightly misjudged it and the bank started to eb abit closer to the nose of my Furby. I lifted off the throttle very slightly to help the front end bite so I could help her tuck in abit quicker and get back onto a good line.

However I am really not sure for the life of me what happened, but no sooner did I do that the back end literally snapped away and she was headed towards the bank backwards. So I got back on the power and wrestled her back on track. Me in true virgin n00b style overcorrected and before I knew it the back end snapped the other way and I was back to where I started. By this time however I had bled off enough speed to safely get her back undercontrol.

What got me however was how lurchey and wallowey it all was. When she started to spin it never really felt quick. It just felt like the entire suspension system was too soft and was just promoting nasty tank-slaps. Something which I think is the best word to describe it.

The irony was that was my first day with my new Toyo Proxies. :(

Sounds like someone should slow down a bit

Also, new tyres will not of helped with the grip. They take a few hundred miles to bed in.

They take a 2-300 miles to scrub in. That might have been a lot of your issue.

Yeah, new tyres should be treated with much caution, my last boss had new tyres fitted to the rear of his old Z3M (i think that's what it was) and ended up almost backwards on a roundabout in Newport after giving it too many beans!

after trax this year i made a descision that the car was crap, well and truly it had far too much power for the chassis,so i started modding to a plan,my car is now 1000% better than it was and for only modest outlay, the three best mod imho so far are the rear arb,312mm brakes and the jabba dog bone mount these are must have items for anyone with a fabia vrs,i also have pd160 intake, pipercross filter, forge front strut brace for now.:D

That has GOT to be the worst excuse (best  ) for having bald tyres I've ever heard... including my own recent "ah yes, the tracking must be a bit out".

"They were fine this morning officer, it's this rain, it makes them slip across the road and it's worn them away in no time" :D

Will this fit my Polo 9n?

Will this fit my Polo 9n?

Yes i believe it does, best to give jabba a ring to confirm tho

Same chassis isn't it? Would've thought so......unless VW fit some kind of funny bolts underneath or something?
