Fitted my jabba rear anti roll bar on sunday.

How fast can you corner now lol Its insane. Lifting off mid corner will result in some nice lift off oversteer. Then sime choice movements of the steering and back on the power will result in exiting the corner very quickly indeed and slightly sideways :D

I have tried this a few times now, including a long sweeping lefthand bend @ 60-70mph, and i am still here to write this post

Ive got to say the jabba RARB is by far the best mod to date

How u getting on with yours mate ?

Is yours on modded suspension too John or just with the RARB? Can't remember.... :D

Change of insurer required me thinks. Roll on June and I can start modding. ;)

it is great, fitting was a real mare, you were lucky the clamps were allready in a rear beam shape, bending them was a pain, made worse by the fact i couldn't be arsed to take it to the garage to get it up on the ramps,i did the whole thing laid on the floor under the back without jacking it up(i wanted to make sure the beam stayed straight)so i was well hacked off by the time i got it fitted. One trip up the road blew the blues away tho, definatly the best mod so far:D

Question about the RARB too, and the rear suspension in general.

The big beam that goes between the 2 trailing arms.....does this flex when you corner allowing one wheel to rise whilst the other falls?

Then I take it if this is the case that the RARB simply strengthens the rear beam making it flex less during cornering? Or am I wrong? ::D

as i look at it i would say the rear arb twists the clamps that go on the rear beam are only there to stop the arb trailing on the floor, the arb strengthens the points at the bottom of each shock mount,

i think:rolleyes:

It is BY FAR the best mod you can do. Much more than a remap!!!

Just watch you dont get carried away and over do it

This would suggest that the rear traling arms move independantly of the big beam accross the middle and the RARB lmits this movement......

EDIT: Or does it work like a torsion beam system? I know the missus 306 is proper torsion beam with a nice round beam in the middle.....not the iron girder under the Furby.

Correct
theres a first time for everything:rofl::rofl::rofl:

surely the clamps are there to create/apply torsion to the ARB? you're thinking of a (lower) strut brace?

  • Author

i don't think so andy,i may be wrong but the clamps are just standard affairs and don't appear to bear any load, they are quite flimsy,i think it works by twisting and not allowing the trailing arms to move as independantly as they were once allowed to do,like i said tho i could be wrong:D

The Jabba rarb is an awesome mod, 2nd time I took my car to the Nurburgring this year and the difference on track was phenomenal... everyone who has an interest in 'spirited' driving should do this mod.

Told you it was :D

How much extra does the insurance cost when you declare it?

Because of course no one would fit one without declaring it to the insurance would they?

To be honest I dont know how much my insurance would be for a standard car. I just phone up, tell them what I've got and sit back.

It stops everything flexing. I can drive off our drive at home/ 1/2 off the pavment and i have the front wheel cocking its leg or if back off the drive the back wheel ***** its leg up. Its a gr8 mod well worth it.

It took me 30mins to declare this mod. Its named under suspention mods so iam told. carnt remember how much extra as i delcared a hell load of other stuff too.

The rear ARB is an awesome mod for sure.

The clamps around the rear beam just stop it dragging along the floor. The ARB limits independant movement of the rear suspension thus keeping the car more level in the corners. This allows a more consistant contact patch of they tyres on the road, thus giving a much more predictable oversteer.

Without the rear ARB the outside tyre gets loaded up giving more grip on that tyre only, so the car sort of digs in on that side rather than both rear tyres gripping evenly.

This is just my take on it though.

Tempted by this mod, it does beg the question,

"is there a front lower uprated arb and would this have the same "noticable" improvement as the rear one."

Can anyone help.......

This would counteract the benefit of the rear one putting the car back into understeer city.

Ok, just been trying to figure out how the standard rear setup works. By the looks of pictures etc, the 2 rear trailing arms (with the springs in) are allowed to move up and down freely and are not attached to the big beam accross the middle. The RARB bolts onto the far end of the trailing arms and attaches to the big beam as you say, to stop it dragging on the floor and to allow it to apply torsion. This would explain why the standard rear end is so soggy as there's nothing connecting the 2 sides of the cars suspension together at the back to restrict roll, which is where the Jabba RARB comes in....

Am I right?

Yep.

Ahhhhhhhhh.......I see. :D :D

A thousand thankyou's. ;)

Its back to standard suspension and its staying. WIth the jabba anti roll bar i can corner at speed and control with the throttle how much i want the rear to step out. I dont think there is a need for lowering as i think over most roads the standard setup with RARB will be faster than a lowered one with RARB.

Ill demo on sunday, bring a change of trousers

Told you it was :D

Yup, Just come back from sheffield, how much fun are roundabouts now!

Loads of people said its gunner be the best mod you will do, but i didnt really believe them. I thought how could a length of bendy bar help the body roll.

Well, i was so wrong!

All i need now are some proper brakes and a new clutch
