Maxidot Service Warning

Featured Replies

A couple of weeks ago there was a thread on here that showed how to display on your maxi-dot the number of days/miles until your next service. I have just done this and the display said "Service Now!"

However, I have had no warning and the normal display does not have any little spanners or anything to say a service is due. Last time I checked the service was not due until December. :(

The manual is useless as usual, as it does not mention maxi-dot at all.

Any ideas, anyone?

How many miles have you done?

Hi

Do the following:

- go to the car and get inside

- close all doors

- put ignition on first step (maxidot will scream to put seat belt) without starting engine

- wait 5-6 seconds for seatbelt warning to go

- press the reset trip button.... keep pressed until you see the correct mileage and time till service.

I also got that ServiceNow! once. I think it comes if u put ignition after pressing the button.

my car does teh same. has had the normal 1st service at 18,000 miles which was alerted on the maxidot. before this from 6000 miles it would say service now when the buttons were pressed. after the 1st service ive tried a few times and it still says service now. Previous dealers ive asked about it just said to ignore it and didnt know why it didnt show the miles

How many miles have you done?

Just under 9,000 since March '06 when I bought the car.

I am not suggesting that the car doesn't need a service, as I mostly only do short trips so I am sure it is due but I am puzzled as to why it hasn't warned me on the normal display.

Have you tried what I wrote?

It is a matter of first putting ignition, then press the button. NOT reverse order. If you do it reverse order you will get the message ServiceNow! always.

thanks rvacaru. just been out and checked your method and i was indeed doing it wrong by pressing before ignition was turned on. 9300 miles till my next service

Mine works - 1500miles or 416 days  until next service. I'm guessing that the service life of the oil is a maximum of 2 years hence that figure? Somehow I think I'll exceed the 1500miles before then though. . . :D

:thumbup:Thanks rvacaru. 7600 miles or 60 days, which means my service is due on Sunday 23rd December. Dealer won't be open Sunday so it will have to be Monday 24th...

Do I really want my car serviced on Christmas Eve...?;)

normally (based on my experience), the Service now message pops out when your scheduled service is overdue.

For example, if your car is set to 10,000km for next service, the maxi-dot will warn you when you are about to reach that mileage. Either by mileage or days.

But when you are driving a car that already reach 10, 000km, the message of Service Now will keep pop out everytime you start the engine or put the ignition ON.

I've just tryed your method and it works! Tnx rvacaru!
