Winter Rubber

Featured Replies

Getting to that time of year again,

basically looking to put my car into "winter mode" and need some tyres for my 16" alloys.

looking for something that will give good grip in wet/ slushy conditions, car doesn't get used in full snow.

is it worth changing from the 205/45R16 tyre recommended for the fabia? eg going narrower or increasing the tyre wall?

Cheers

you can get winter tyres in the standard size...... they will work better than "normal" tyres, whenever the temp drops below 5 celcius.... and loads better if you do get snow.....

I considered them as I just had new fronts, gonna be wet and cold here in the lakes for the next few months (was between 0 celcius and 5 celcius for the first four hours of my work this morning!) but in the end was too cash strapped......

edit: unless you think yopu're in for alot of snow, I doubt you'd need narrower tyres, althogh I was staying in Balleter at the end of feb last year, and BOY did it snow! lol..... couldn't even get the car out one day! was drifet over it, so it just looked like a mound, even the red deer had come down off the mountains and into the town!

If it's any help I'm quite happy with the performace of my uniroyal rainsports when it wet.
