Hi all,

Just had my oil and filter changed at national tyres for £30.

Although an excellent price they used Castrol EDGE 5w-30.This is a long life oil but i only plan on changing every 10000 miles.

I presume it will be fine but would fully synthetic have been better as thats what i asked for.:confused:

So fully synthetic and long life? best of both worlds then.

I'm pretty sure all Longlife oils that VAG recommend are fully synth.

run that oil in passat 130 4 motion for four years no prob at all , use this oil daily at work

Grrr the monkeys have overfilled by about 0.5cm,will car be ok or shall i take some out?

p.s my car doesn't use oil so it will be there until next service

Are you sure its OK to use 5W/30 in a 1.8T ????

Would have thought the min spec would have been 5W/40 in a turbo (petrol) engine.

I use 0W/40 Mobile 1 SHC in mine, its changed anually @ less than 2.5k usually.

Yep, its on the castrol site ("what oil should i use") recommended for the octy rs Motor Oil and Lubricants Castrol UK - Lubricants

Interestingly recommended for both the QG1 and QG2 service schedule.
