Where's the OBD-II port hidden?

Featured Replies

HI,

I've owned several VW's but now have got two Skodas. Where are those diagnostic connectors hidden in these ones:

Octavia II and

Fabia 1.6

I'd like to test my VAG-COM on these vehicles. My wife's car has also lost the control of her 2nd key fob. It is an oval one with two green horse hoof like buttons. The back of the fob says AEV 4204.01 and it came with the car- no other brand or make.

It has fresh batteries and will transmit on 433 MHz band- checked it with a receiver.

Can somebody help me please?

Octavia is drivers side under the dash near the bonnet pull.

If it's a MKI Fabia the you need to lower the right hand cooler tray and it's behind it.

Octavia - above the bonnet lever

Fabia I - behind the dash cubby hole which is below the light switch, pull it open and then push the plastic tab at the top to allow to open beyond 90 degrees.

The plugs are purple.

To test the remotes go into 46 convenience system, then into 08 measuring blocks and cycle through them until you find one for the remote, if it is OK that block will change as you operate the remote.

As he says Fabia 1.6 I assume he means the Mk2. :)

Hi all, tnx for your help. Found the socket on both models. Yes Tom_vRS, my wife's Fabia 1.6 is a 2002 model , sedan. NOT the new Fabia.

Hope that I'll get the 2nd key fob operating. Button/unlock trick didn't work for me neither ignition/on with first key-trick.

Have a nice Sunday.

:D

From your description of the fob, it doesn't seem to be a Skoda one to me. The Skoda remotes are clipped to the key. It could well be an accessory or after market one, which will have a different synchronisation procedure. The first step would be to get it identified.

I thought myself too that my Fabia fobs were aftermarket ones. But by Googleing for

the partially worn-out numbers guided me to a web page selling Fabia original accessories and there was a picture of a similar fob attached to a Skoda key.

I assumed it was a Cobra. My old Passat had a Cobra two-button fob. So I tried the cobra trick -holding both buttons down until led is steady, then pressing one button (which one) and the fob should be now in system.

It didn't help. Should I first unlock the car with a key and then do the sych or what?

Finally I had success in syncing both fobs. They are original Skoda ones, no aftermarket fobs, type BKA 400 001A. The same applies to other BKA-type fobs.

It goes like this:

1. Enter the vehicle. Keep both green buttons pressed for ten seconds or more until flashing led goes steady lit.

2. Turn ignition on. Press any button THREE TIMES in a row- for at least one second each.

3. Turn signals will blink and it's done. :D

4. Repeat this for another key fob if dead, too. As I stated earlier, the fob is a key-ring type fob, not built-in as my Octavia II has in its key.

Pass this info to other Skoda people, please. It was not in car manual. It was in a separate leaflet hidden in the glovebox, but it definitely is an original Skoda part.
