Indicator "clicker"

Featured Replies

Have run my 05 Elegance 1.9tdi 130 for 97,000 miles with no problems what so ever, then first of all the regulator on the rear drivers side electric window went and now my indicator "clicker has now got a mind of its own, clicking when it feels like it, regardless of whether i'm indicating or not !!, anybody else had this problem ?, is it easy to fix ?

Sounds to me like a fault on the system, possibly due to a dodgy hazard warning switch. Not had this fault on the SuperB, but father had this on a SEAT Leon about 2-3 years ago, and it was resolved by getting the relay switch on the fuse board replaced.

Hope this helps.

Had exactly same fault it requires the indicator stalk to be replaced it is a ten minute job at the dealer or you probably do it your self if technically minded.

Thanks for the replies people, looks like the next owner is going to get the problem as the Superb is being taken off me (company car), going to miss all the toys on my Elegance model, and its space and cruising ability but its going !......being replaced by Audi A4 2.0tdi S-Line Auto, hope its as good as the Superb......Thanks again.

same problem on my Superb 03.

Changed the Hazard warning. NOPE:mad::mad:

Then bought the indicator talk from a scrapper for £10. IT WORKED:thumbup:

Don't you have to take the steering wheel off to do the stalk, seem to remember it going on a mates car one time.

Had this problem on my old A6. Changing the hazard switch or indicators by them selves didn't fix it, but chaning both did! Could never explain why!

how do you stop the air bag form going off if changing your self?ive been told disconnect the battery??

please advise

thanks

Had that same problem recently myself in a Superb, sprayed a little WD40 into the base of the indicator stalk and worked it in with an air hose. This caused the clicking to go constantly but it eventually stopped a day or so later, works perfect now. A mechanic mate told me dirt between the contacts causes this slight short but not enough power passes through them to illuminate lights etc. Worth a try before replacing the stalk

I have seen them disconnected and re connected 'live' without a problem.

However i always disconnect the battery for about 1/2 hr (lets all the power fully drain from everywhere) i disconnect the battery first, by the time you have finished whatever you are doing it will be 1/2 hr+ anyway so i re connect it last thing.

The last thing i want is an airbag going off in my face. :finger:

I have an 04 superb and this happened at about 60/70 k miles. The stalk was replaced under warranty (so they said) but im not sure what else they may have done. I know have the same problem again at 121k miles. I tried the wd40 squirt and it semed to be ok for a day or so but has come back worse than ever!

Has any1 any detailed procedure for removing and maybe cleaning the contacts or can tell me where the relays arev housed?

Also any1 asked skoda customer services about the fault?

ta

Its the stalks that go wrong, they become to sensitive and go off over the slightest bump on the road. same happened on the 3B Passat.

Give the indicator a bl00dy good wiggle in all directions. That should clear the tarnish on the contacts. Worse if you smoke in the car, apparently.

before you go to the stealership try giving it a good squirting with electrical contact cleaning spray and allow to dry before trying it.

Bought mine from local car accessory shop for about a fiver, mine is now click free

Dont mean to hijack the thread, sometimes i can put my right hand indicators on and it flashes a 2-3 times then starts firing the left indicator off.

Done this before i had the clifford fitted, and the last time it did it the passenger side window switch wasn't connected....as i had to drive to the stealers for new door trim clips.

Reconnected it and started the car and was fine since, then yesterday it had a mind of its own till about 2mins later started working.

Anyone any ideas?
