Spanner symbol

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a spanner symbol that's just appeared - and also says 600 - so I assume this means a service is due in 600 miles time...

It's an Octavia 1.9TDI (05 reg) and coming up on 31k.

I'm not sure what service interval I'm on, but does anybody here know what they will change (oil + filter I assume for starters) and how much it'll cost?

Will phone Skoda on Monday to get it booked in.

Cheers

Lee

That's right ;)

If it we me I would get it back on 10K servicing to make it easy :D

OK - so just phoned Skoda and booked in.

They quoted £240 for a service - anybody know if this is about right?

Anybody got a list of what they do for £240???!!

A second variable service should be,

Oil

Oil filter

Pollen filter

Inspection.

Fuel and air wont be done until 60k.

£240 - bargain.

Oil will be best part of £60 on longlife.

Plus about 1.5 hours labour, filter costs etc.

I'd ask them to do the air too having seen how dirty the air filters are at 40k on the MK I and 20k on the MK II

I've asked them to look at my cruise control again as well ...went tit's up the other day whilst driving from Leeds to Newbury on the M1 / M42 / M40 / A34 - would have been bloody handy to have it working correctly on that one!

Faliure of the cruise control is a known issue on some of the earlier Mk II octys - I had mine replaced under warranty.

Have a read of http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/cruise-control/81909/ and a few other threads that you will find using the search facility.

Its also mentioned on VRStu's site - Octavia-vRS.com - Octavia A5 Common or Known Problems and Issues

If you are on friendly terms with your dealer, it could be worth asking them to get a spare stalk in just in case, although I suspect they will want to check it out first and then you will have to book it in again if a new one is required.

Yes I know - hence the "again" - see this post!

I did actually think of that, but did ask them whilst on the phone. I've gotta pop in there to collect some wires for the stereo sometimes this week so I'll ask them then.

My Cruise control has now failed twice: local Skoda dealer just whip a new stalk in each time, no questions, under warranty............. substandard VW kit, I guess!!!!;)

For the record - my service was £276 and some pence!
