130 or 120??

Featured Replies

i brougth a job lot a while backs, wheels , n bits n bobs,

in the lot i had a 1.3 engine, which i think is the 130? has a cast iron head, which i beleve has been gas flowed, which ment nothing to me till explanned,

the cars a 120l and i have a gas flowed head (rather rusty) head for this.

is it worth fitting the head? is the 130 worth fitting? or should i stick with the 120??

Use the 130 bottom end, and find a felicia MPi head - they are the best flowing. If your 130 has been gas flowed it might have a kent/piper or reground cam in it.

To build a powerfull engine you need either a favorit/felicia 1289cc bottom end or 1400 bottom end from fabia.

Then you can either go carbs, throttle bodies with custom engine management or just a tuned MPi setup.

:) The 130 engine isn't that much more powerful than the 120, it is a bit more torquey though.

If your aim is to get a marked increase in power then a 136 engine is best. These had an 8 port alloy cylinder head that breathes much better than the cast iron 5 port heads on the 105, 120 and 130 engines. The best 136 head to go for is the MPi head from a later Felicia 136.

Incedentially, the alloy 8 port head WILL NOT fit on the 105, 120 or 130 block.

Thanks Dave, didnt know that.
