Will do when the lead arrives from south east asia via ebay.

Is it possible the ABS sensor could have been dislodged during fitting?

I don't think so, but will howk the wheels off it later to check.

The speedo fluctuates/ sticks at or around 30, when I accelerate, then jumps to where it should be, and the light comes on then. The ABS is definitely non functioning.

I'd say you've either left something unplugged or knocked/damaged the sensor.

...or smashed, knackered or otherwise broken the ABS sensor ring thing....

description of possible fault> :D

The ring is a part of the driveshaft AFAIK. Steel teeth.

VAG COM says 'implausible wheel speed from front left sensor.

The front left caliper carrier is rubbing on the outside of the disk as well. The front left wheel bearing was replaced last month. I wonder if it's been done properly, ie if the hub is further out than it should be, and if the rubbing and subsequent vibration has donald ducked the sensor.

Is machining the carrier a safe and / or viable option or should I look at getting the bearing checked?

I'm not driving it BTW.

Cheers all

Nick

take it all apart again, something isn't right there.
