110 tdi air/fuel problem.....help

Featured Replies

i recently had the fuel filter replaced. this has unfortunately allow air to get in. I have used vaseline on the connections and they are all tight however if i leave the car overnight or longer than 4 hours then when it comes to start it can turn over for 20/30 seconds before starting. As i start workat 0700 The neighbours are about to lynch me. has any body got any ideas. Running the engine over 200 rpm hasnt worked as i,ve been using the car daily for two weeks with no improvement. if i was to try to start it anytime within 2 hours ofit running, it will start straight away! i can see the air collecting in the see through hose................please help, i,m starting to loose patience now.

Did you replace the 'O' rings on the fuel stat when you replaced the filter?

And if so are you sure their seated in the grooves correctly?

Were you meticulously clean when you changed the filter?

It woud not bother me as I start at 06:00. Sounds like you are drawing in air in the system....

You can always see air bubbles in the clear fuel line on any 90 or 110 Octavia. Are you sure that you are not getting side tracked and have a glowplug problem? Is the drain on the bottom of the filter done up? Have you tried replacing the valve on top of the filter?

thanks for your suggestions......i will check the o seals this weekend and apply some more vaseline to try and trace the leak. i dont think its a glow plug problem as its 11 degrees at the moment in sunny cornwell.
