Anybody know if you can get a Shark Fin Aerail for the Octy?

Featured Replies

Might seem like a daft question but I have always liked the look of them on beemers and got to thinking that one would look pretty damn fine on me black vRS ;)

I hear there dual use as well (RF + GPS)

Any ideas chaps? Ahem, I mean Stu

Definately available, seen the part on Stu's lounge table at some point in the past but I dont think anyone has actually gone ahead and fitted one. I believe it's a retro fittable from the MkV Golf.

It may not look too special out of the box but fitted it looks a lot better + you can spray them to match the bodywork colour.

I fitted one about a month ago (radio only) - it was fairly simple apart from the plug that connects to the existing car wiring is a different shape so you need to graft the old plug onto the new aerial to get it to work. Admittedly the reception is not quite as good (only fm works) but i only listen to fm and usually i listen to my ipod anyway. It does look great too!

A VW part is available. Two version, one with and one without GPS.

As Steve says body colour paintable if required.

You can get adaptors etc to save grafting plugs on which to be honest is quite a likely cause of poor reception.

...wish I could have found one of those adaptors

This comes as standard over here in China, very nice too I might add.

Stu, do you have the respect part numbers one would need?

Been posted already for the antenna. I'll have a look in a bit.

I think it's 1K0 035 507 J for the Non GPS one.

Thanks.

IIRC these wre about £25? Keen to know details on adaptor, and how easy to do with curtain bags fitted to - or best left to the dealer in case things go bad?

I've not done one TBH. Superted is the antenna expert and probably a good source for the adaptor lead you'd need.

The connectors are all at the back of the car so it should be a case of dropping the rear roof lining and that's it. No need to go near airbags.
