why do i have 16s

Featured Replies

hi was just wondering if anyone knew why my vrs has 16s on it as i thought they were 17s standard cheers for any help

Maybe it's an Irish export. On Mk1 vRS 16s were standard and 17s optional. Unless its a combi. 16s as standard in the UK

Like Dave said, early 16s, estates and irish/foreign vRs's had them.

Mine being a 51 plate has 16s. Shame really as 17s do look a fair bit better :)

that would make sense then its a y plate but how would i know if it was a import and whats a combi cheers

Combi = estate.

All hatches no matter how old should have 17 inch wheels, it was in the spec from day one. I had one of the first in the UK in 2001, and it had 17s.

If you have 16 inch wheels, then either your car is an import, an early press car, OR at some poin the cars history a dealer has done a sneaky and swapped them with an estate to make it more saleable.

Most press cars had reg that ended RVV, so that should help.

edit to add, if you have climate control then its not an irish import because these only had standard aircon.

17's were in the spec that was true, not all cars however came with the 17's and quite a fe were replced under warranty if the dealer chose to or realised.

Could be gods way of punishing you?

The flick keys came in on the 51 reg, so I am not surprised you dont have those.

as its over i think 82k 6yrs old

Yep by 22k and two years.

hi mate do you know if i could change to them as one of my keys is broken

You can buy the flip blank keys and have them cut and then coded to the car's immobiliser/ecu

Expensive to do this at a dealer , but you can get blanks off ebay I think , and get them coded elsewhere
