Help!!!!

Long story cut short!!! Recently had spare keys to Fabia VRS nicked and am in a quandry as what to do now.

The priority is to ensure that the car is secure- does this mean the Key code and the ignition needs reprogramming? New keys? If so any ideas of cost and how long will it take?

Any help would be much appreciated

If your key is reprogammed then the old spare wont start the car, if you program the remote also the old remote wont open the car.

However the old key will still open the car.

I guess this means new keys and re programming the ignition:( Is it an expensive job?

I would think for a lockset (drivers door lock and ignition barell) keys and coding around £400 i'd say.

Ouch..... thanks for your help , though I guess it has to be done. I was also thinking of installing a de-lock door kit to increase security. I have done a search and found that folks have done this installation on Octy's. Has anyone tried this on a fabia?

From your house ? ....... Maybe a claim on your home insurance might work, dunno ? :confused:

what are the chances of the recipient of the keys finding your car? Were they taken close to where the car is normally left?

If you de lock the drivers door there is no need to replace any of the keys.

Just order a new spare and get them all recoded.

Keys nicked from partners keyset as we sometimes share the car. Liklihood who knows??? Though without going into too much detail, i believe that i may not be covered by insurance should i have to make a claim. :eek:

So to be on the safe side i am looking to re- program ignition and two new corresponding keys, in addition hopefully fit de-lock door kit.......

Get one new key and have them both re programmed.

Yep I agree that is probably the cheapest option.

one last question- will the de lock set for the Octy fit the fabia? Has anyone tried it?

Yep, shoul be the same as the MK4 Golf etc, iirc all the handles are the same.
