Audi RS2s

Featured Replies

Does anyone have an idea of what one of these would cost to run? I am reasonably sure that it'd be a daft idea to acquire one, but the insurance would be manageable. I do about 6,000 miles a year, so the fuel wouldn't be excruciating either, but presumably the servicing and any bits would be frighteningly expensive?

I am quite taken with the utterly stealth appearance is all. Also they don't seem to go for enormous amounts of money, and might be the sort of car that's been reasonably well taken care of. Maybe.

Had a similar discussion with Bengie last night about the Audi S4. Take it from someone that who was restored/serviced these vehicles they cost a lot of money in upkeep.

Along with the S2 and the ur quattros there is a good reason these cars now seem cheap. Even if nothing goes wrong (which is pretty unlikely) they an be a nightmare to put right and the cheap ones just havent been looked after.

I'd suspected as much. Not, then, for someone with a fear of grease and a finite bank balance.

No, they would be a great buy for someone who can look after them themselves and can get parts at trade prices.

I remember reading that if the aircon compressor fails on an RS2,it necessitates complete removal of the dash to access, and about 8 hours labour plus parts.....

The evaporator yes, cant see the compressor needing that as its on the front of the engine.

I stand corrected:)

if you Octy has aircon , it will probably require the same work to be carried out to access the evaporator , just might not take as long to do and cost as much

Clutches are an absolute b@stard to do to! Almost as much fun as a Porka 928........I hate transaxles!

done a couple of 944 clutches , PIA , especially the sensors at the top of the bellhousing , quite expensive when they won't come out and you have to rag the bellhousing off with them still fitted :thumbdwn:
