How much to paint a bumper?

Featured Replies

Whilst fitting my Milotec grilles, I managed to slip and scratch my front bumper. It's not very noticeable to be honest, but it's giving me another reason to have the front bumper re sprayed which I have been meaning to do since I bought the car. It's peppered in stone chips and generally looks a bit naff up close.

Firstly I went to Skoda to get a price for the sticker which runs across my bumper (WRC model). It's a simple red/pink strip about 1 inch deep and runs from one wheel arch to the other - £60!!! Not only that, but they are not certain that it's actually the right sticker, since the description is 'vague'. I'm told if I order it and it turns out to be incorrect, I still have to pay. Nice. I'll be speaking to SUK about that one to see if they can help identify the correct part.

Anyway, the bumper is a standard vRS part, with headlight washers (which don't need painting). It's mainly white but the top section is green.... so I would expect it to cost a little more than 'average' to paint.

I've been quoted £250 which I think is way OTT, but I thought I would see if anyone on here who is more in the know about these things could give their opinion. I was expecting more like £150-£200 tops. .

 So it looks like I need more quoted then :o

I've had a quote for over £200 to do my back bumper where someone has hit t and buggered off.

Downer.

Cheers

I was quoted £300. to do my front bumper and bonnet.

I have been quoted £150 to do a vRS front bumper for my 4x4. Hopefully I will be picking it up soon.

I asked my old next door neighbour who is manager of a bodyshop and he said labour rates are around fifteen to twenty quid an hour for insurance work. Parts and paint extra. He thought about one fifty for an insurance job, but he did say to ask for a saturday morning job, as these are the days when aftermarket work was done:).

I paid £125 to have the lower half of my front bumper refitted and respayed after I inadvertantly parked the front end over a high kerb and nearly ripped it off trying to get out again. :o

Guy did such a good job on colour match you would never know.

ok, that was back in 2007, what about now? Still costs a fortune to paint 2 bumpers?

Five years later...

Reckon on £200 to respray a panel including bumper, particularly of there are dents scraps and other defects to make good first!

I had my front resprayed at a garage we use to do our bodywork in work and they charged me £140.

Im just havin a new rear bumper for mine resprayed by a family memeber for £80, goin from yellow to red.

Ask a few bodyshops first mate and get a few quotes.
