LCR Shopping List following Brunty

Featured Replies

Well, following some fun on the track, I need...

New front brake pads... those Mintex pads were sh1te!! Should have kept with Brembo!! Any-one else eat through a new set of pads in a day??

New front brake disks / current disks re-faced - because of sh1tty Mintex pads!!

4 new tyres - was almost due 2 anyway, so finished them off on the track!!

New windscreen :D

In terms of car mods... the car performed really well, as some of you may have noticed when I overtook / lapped some of you!! Obvuously a replacement air filter, exhaust and a remap will do a lot more as well, although looking at some of the photos of my car, stiffer arb's might be worthwhile...

All in all, I was impressed with my car... and you can't argue at 8.4mpg out on track!!

Rog,

If you're looking for new Brake pads, go for the Ferodo DS2500's.

Absoloutley brilliant, i had no fade at all and not a single scare from the brakes all day, and i'm on standard RS discs too ;)

Cheers mate, I'll look into them!! Trouble is finding pads that can fit in the Brembo calipers... I was uming and ahing whether to get the Brembo pads again (as I know they work!), but I've heard Ferodo mentioned... just needed an on-track recommendation like yours!!

If Ferodo make DS2500 for the Brembos... GET THEM!

Ive got DS2500 on standard 312mm discs.. and they are awesome!

Some of the 'ring masters swear by these and the ds3000.

Which Mintex pads were they?

I use 1144s for forestry and road use on the (nova) rallycar and 1166s for tarmac - would recommend 1166s for track use but not for using on the road - theyre simply awesome but not the best from cold. Im guessing you had 1155s?

The 1166s did 8 events - probably nearly 600 competition miles - and theres still some left on them but I cooked them when my master cylinder locked on so thought it best to change them...

Which Mintex pads were they?

Very good question!!

The box is in the garage - will take a look tomorrow.

A point to add though, when I was putting my "slightly used" brembo pads back in earlier, is that I don't need new disks!! All I need is about a week off work, an endless supply of wet and dry paper, and a lot more patience... the grooves are actually a build-up of pad material on the disks!!

Oh, and as for he Mintex pads... apart from them smelling like they're from a car that's been on fire, and apart from the remaining pad material being cracked in places almost to the back plate, and apart from the paint on the back being blistered... the remaining pad material is a very nice shiney silver...

I'm trying to organise another group buy (sorry Adrian) after Brunters so anyone wanting Ferodo DS 2500s let me know by PM which car type and I will see about price and availability.

Chris
