If you install TomTom Home on your PC and connect your TomTom any available firmware updates can be downloaded.

I've got a Road Com RC400 - if you miss your turning, this does NOT give you a " make a legal u turn " or similar, it just sends you miles out of your way to get back on the right track again....speaking of tracks, the damn thing tried to send me down a railway track to my destination last week ....... avoid ROADCOM RC400 like the pague mate.

My brother's just got a Garmin and it's brilliant.

will have to give that a try simon, could well be the problem :)

Without a shadowof a doubt the TomTom Go 720T it recently got 5 Stars as the best sat nav device and i can honestly say its the best sat nav ive ever had

Again another vote for the TOMTOM , i have just got one of the GO520,s and it,s dead easy to use and its got . . .

voice recognition / blue-tooth / f.m transmitter / speed cam locations / i-pod control

list of features goes on & on

Another vote for the TT one  I just wish I'd waited and got the new one with Europe on it
