any body any ideas cos i realy cant afford dealer prices and when i am a mechanic myself ,be it trucks, i would sooner try to repair it myself Any body with an exact prognossis my number is 07766112615, I will call u back

cheers steve

I would recommend finding someone in your area with vagcom. Get a scan done as this should point to where there is some form of voltage drop.

So the battery is 100% ok is it? The dash is not going blank when it attempts to crank over?

A scan should sort it. Would offer myself but I'm a long way from Doncaster.

ive put the battery on charge over nite and will see what happens in morning before i go to work. she will have to get her push bike out or walk to work:)

If jump start from good source (engine running) and slow turn over suggests poor starter connection and/or earth. Whilst checking look at the fusible links on top of the battery. Mine looked OK but had loosened.

Best of luck

Job done , it was the battery, probably the worse one ive ever changed on a car!

Bit fiddly isn't it. :D I was wondering when you did your voltage check that perhaps once cranked over the voltages would drop quite significantly (showing it was dud) - or whether you tested it static. I'm now running a new battery too. Seems the batteries are not all that good and I know have an aftermarket one. Thing is whilst I was changing mine I made the effort to relocate it to the boot. I need the space in the engine bay for more important stuff. :D

Glad you have sorted it mate.

The techies at work are suprised with the outcome, but pleased.

Let me know if you need any more help/info etc.
