Every now and again the red light and warning sound comes on about thirty seconds after I have started the car from cold. It is more frequent if the car has been standing for a few days. If I turn off the engine and then restart it the light does not come back on.

I put it into the dealers about three months ago regarding this issue and they said that the coolant level was low and this causes the light to come on when first started. They topped it up and all seemed well until this past couple of weeks when it started happening again.

I'm not sure I believe that low coolant is the problem, if it was surely the light would come on every time I started the car from cold, not just intermittantly (sp).

Anyone else had a similar problem?

The problem is with the level sensor in the expansion tank. A top-up can sometimes do it (worked for me!), but otherwise a new expansion tank will be needed as the sensor is built-in. Only about £12, though, and pretty easy to fit!

It's a fairly well-documented issue on here, so I'm sure a search will turn up further instructions if you need them!
