Fitting phone bluetooth

Featured Replies

I've a new (2007) Octavia Scout and I want to fit bluetooth for the phone, I've seen you can change some of the buttons on the Multi Function Steering Wheel to phone instead of radio, don't fancy my chances at this though, I prefer the option of something like a Parrot kit from say Halfords, seems like less work.

However how do I get to the back of the radio to connect a mute lead. I have seen there are keys to get the radio out available but can't see where they might go. Looking at some of the pics on here the trim round the radio seems to come off, don't want to go wading in with a screwdriver though, as I say it's a new car!

Halfords tell me I'll need an ISO lead but I'd like to have a look and see, some other items I've read, not on this site, say that you don't need it as the connection is already there.

It seems this is a dumb question to ask hopefully you'll forgive me, I'm used to older type radios that come out more easily than this .............

Welcome to Brisky

Why not consider a factory fit bluetooth from vrSTU, they are much more discreet and after owning a parrot, do provide a better level of clarity. (Quick search for OEM Bluetooth)

You don't need an ISO lead presuming you have a stream head unit, I would NOT let a halfords chavcharioting zit ridden tossbag anywhere near my car, unless I had the misfortune to hit one and be parked on top of them.

The facia panel needs to come off, have a look at Stu's octavia website and the MFD2 fitting guide, but with care it is easily done, then you pop out the 4 plastic covers and undo the torx screws and then pull the unit out (no keys required). The phone connection is marked on the back of the unit so it's a case of just hooking up the mute leads with the appropriate connectors.

the wires attached to the quad lock connector are not very long, but there is not much space behind there so it's a good job really :), I would unclip the quad lock and then fit the mute wires, then refit the quadlock and you would be away.

Thanks for the advice, agree about Halfords that's why it's not been done and I'm still looking. Stu's price is now a bit high, was £165 now £210 which is a lot for the parts only. I have picked up the info on how to do the job though and may put Parrot in myself. We'll see !!

The £165 was a Group Buy price for a quantity order and the main control unit is now a different model and thus more expensive i'm afraid.

Whats changed ? Also, can you get the cradle for the model supplied in the original GB ?

The part number has changed which is a unit with a newer firmware version. September 07 IIRC.

Only thing I know that is different is the support for the RNS 510.

Yes you could add a cradle but they are quite limiting in the types of phones.

I really just want the button to activate the voice control system.

if it helps the parrot 3200 I fitted to my mk1 octi has been great. the sound quality both ways is spot on and better that some of the other kits I have used over the years. with the Iso on the back of the radio it was a doddle for me

Easier to mount a MFSW - with phone buttons. One of the buttons activates the voice control system
