Felicia 1.9D - alloy wheels?

Featured Replies

There's a couple of bumps near me where I could get a similar effect with previous cars, but not with my Octy.

The Octy's got the widest and lowest profile tyres, and can actually pull more lateral G, so I think that's all about lateral grip, rather than anything to do with suspension rates or tyre deformation.

Have you tried doing it faster? ;)

Wouldn't a softer rebound setting on the shocks increase the rebound speed & keep the wheels on the tarmac more? (At the expense of wallowing and MORE ROLL ).

Getting back to topic, just a couple of quick photos of the new wheels on....tell me what you think....

I don't dare doing it faster!! :D Faster means having maybe 10 feet sideways to sort out a 4-wheel skid before it's down the bank and into the wall.

I think the Octy is underdamped and suffers from float as a result. Not sure that softer rebound settings won't result in more unloading, since they'll allow the body to lift for longer.

Sorry mate. It's just that, having some understanding of suspension, I kind of have to argue a bit when I see pseudo-science on the subject.

Wheels look the part though.

Cheers, no problem, just that with these new wheels the body roll doesnt seem to kick in anywhere near as easily as before in a bend...i'm sure you're right tho

They're the dingo's danglies all right! :P (and we were just having a quick chat about suspension whilst awaiting your pix :))

Yep, your unstoppable force would pale into insignificance with that sort of immovable object!

What I meant with "softer" rebound is "faster" rebound.

At the end of the day, it's the seat of the pants that tell us how happy we are with whatever mods like that we do -- and how a standard car behaves as well... :)

sweet wheels mate, go on, paint them black! hehe

my coileys have very quick rebound in the first inch'ish of travel but the rest is ooobber slow.

active on the small stuff, but stable on the bigger hits.

That's very progressive of you, or them, or both :D

you knows to. and the compression damping ramps up quick to

Cheers for the comments, will get some overall pics of the car up soon

Can we carry on talking bouncy bits while we wait? :D

why not. i'm going to.

bounce bounce bounce!

It's soooo good to talk with some sensible car nuts

I reckon get them gold anodized :hihi:
