Petrol in diesel - anyone here?

Featured Replies

Just seen this over at honestjohn:

Back Room: Petrol in Diesel

anyone on here? maybe I just missed their post if they have already been on!

That is one nasty mistake, esp for someone in the car trade!!

That happened to me 3 years ago when I bought my Fabia Vrs.

The dealer had to strip down half the fuel system and engine to clean it all up.

Didn't have any other problems though. I think it depends how much diesel is in the tank when the petrol is added?

Nope, not me.

I always drive dervs but when I occasionally drive petrol cars I need to be a bit careful when going back to heavy oil :D

I'd say if anyone had a similar story they should post the Number plate on here....the next person to buy the car should know it's history.

If the stealer won't be honest, then (surely) it's up to us to try to make sure they are.

Stealers are [insert "often" here to make sure that not 'all' but 'most' dealers are covered :-D] lying pond scum (actually worse than that...they're the fungus that grows on the algae, that the pond scum's pooh feeds.....) and the more we (the people) can bring them to rights, the better :-)

I had a very similar experience to the guy in the link. The dealer filled my new 2.0TDI with petrol, and it expired about half a mile from the garage - I was going on holiday with it that evening.

Needless to say I was fuming. Even more so when the salesman said it would be fine once drained and refilled.

Eventually, after involving SUK, they replaced the injectors and fuel pump and extended the warrenty to four years. On that basis I accepted it.

Terrible introduction to Skoda ownership I must say, but the car is winning me round...

Bl00dy hell, that's a crap start.

That is truly incompetant to say the least.
