Calling Dr Zoidberg - and creaky door seals

Featured Replies

Dr Zoidberg,

has your suspension started creaking again since you had the wishbones and bushes replaced? I'm booking mine in soon, as it still creaks over speed bumps - now noticeably worse in the cold weather.

Also, I get another, different creak from the nearside(?) suspension - can be heard braking to a standstill and turning the steering wheel to the left in slow corners (but not to the right). Does anyone have any ideas what this might be? I am tempted to think that it is the same as the speed bump creak but not convinced.

Finally on the subject of noises, does anyone suffer from really creaky door seals? Very noticeable when the care moves laterally in tight corners and over bumpy tarmac. Not good enough IMHO for a modern car and Skoda's flagship (sounds like a Nissan Bluebird Minicab) and especially when my father in law's fabio makes no such noise. I have an 06 plate VRS combi and have been told that it already has the modified door seals. Unless anyone reports the same I am going to insist that the dealer puts in a new set of modified door seals as I am not convinced that what's in there at the moment (if they are the modifed seals) could possibly an improvement.

thanks in advance

Olly

Thanks for this - my real gripe is that you should not have to lubricate the seals yourself, especially when other skodas such as the fabia don't suffer from this problem. I should clarify that my creaking seals are at the tops of the doors, ie the seals round the window frames. If you push the top of the door in corner (ie by the b pillar) from inside, you can replicate the creak. I think in the thread you directed me to people were suffering from a creak from the seal around the door.

Does anyone know which creak the modified seals were supposed to cure?

thanks again.

PS Dr Zoidberg are you still there?

Seems to be an ongoing problem - mine is so erratic, some cold mornings the creak is there [top of door as per yours] then goes as the car warms up. Sometimes not there at all. Strangest thing of all is it will always stop if I open the window a fraction - probably about quarter of an inch. But either it is getting better or I am "tuning it out" and living with it, as I seem to notice it less and less.
