Cambelt

Featured Replies

Recently bought a 1.8T from a Skoda dealership 100 miles away from home.

Car was registered in Feb 2004 and has done 26k.

They serviced the car before I picked it up but only looked like they had done a small service.

I've recently read that VAG say you must have it changed every 4 years which means it's due in Feb.

I have the usual 12 months warranty, if I don't get the cambelt changed and it fails would I have to cover the repair?

The dealer told me it didn't need doing until 60k / 5 Years, if I hadn't been on the internet I wouldn't know any different?

Should the dealer (who sold me the car), have changed the cambelt before I bought it?

What sort of cost am I looking at?

When did they change from 5 years to 4?

Hi

VAG change their mind every year with the cam belts

If the belt goes it will be down to wear and tear and not warranty

Try to argue with the dealer to get it done by them FOC but I doubt it

The price we charge is £295 + VAT and that includes the metal impella`d water pump

Hope that helps?

Was there a particular date that they changed from 5 years to 4 recently?

I hope you mean impellered, cheezemonkhai? ;) Or maybe impelled, seems to be different schools out there. But I agree with you on impella'd

Bloody grammar Nazis

Well, you don't expect anything more helpful from a civil servant on a friday afternoon, do you?

(Mind you, it's almost five o'clock here in Sweden...)
