"Cover" under engine

Featured Replies

Hi all,

On the way to work this morning a piece of metal fell off a lorry in front, bounced in the road and thank christ went under the car with a bang.

I found it had smashed a hole in the plastic cover under the engine. I don't suppose it's anything to worry about, what do you think? i'm thinking just leave it?

Also this sounds a bit daft but I've never looked under the car before. That round hole on the drivers side of said cover with a white plastic "thing" sticking through and oil around it- is that where the engine oil drains from?

Cheers guys

it wont do any harm to get it checked over , some dealers are doing winter checkovers at present , so get them to give it a once over then

as for the oil on that pipe , it is quite normal to have a misting of oil on that pipe connector and possibly a slight drip , just give it a wipe now and then , it is an intercooler hose connection and will seal its own joint when under pressure , so is nothing to worry about
