To Dump or Not to Dump..That is the question

Featured Replies

I have recently bought an 03 plate vRS and the lad i got it off gave me a THS performance Dump Valve with it. Now the car has been remapped...By who i dont know but it has been according to the previous owner....

Should i fit the Dumpvalve or not.

TBH i am not a fan of them as they sound a bit "Max Power" to me

I am a Ford man tbh...Had loads of Cosworths ect but i heard that the whole D/V thing on these cars are different

Hope someone can help

The THS dump valve is a Recirculating Dump Valve. Therefore not a loud atmospheric dump valve which make the loud pshhht.

Remapped cars usually require performance dump valves as the bosch ones are prone to faliure due to high boost pressures following remap.

Your lucky you've got one get it fitted or sell me it. :D

So i thorey, i wont get the whooshing sound with the D/V i have????

best to fit it then?

If standard bosch you may get a little chatter from the DV.

The performance one may give a tiny metallic psssht? i don't know i haven't got one fitted.... yet.

If you have performance DV though i would fit you can always take off as their easy to fit.

cheers

I do get very slight wastegate chatter at the minute.

To get the psssht sound you will need to have an induction kit fitted.

So you should be fine to fit what you have now without much change in sound ;)

I never saw the attraction in making your car sneeze.

The ***** around skeg love it though, must appeal to their 3 communal braincells.

most modified turbo cars need a dump valve of some kind to prevent damage, and wastegates never chatter, its a myth:P
