I were to "flat beam" my xenons, would I be able to raise their base-point level slightly higher?

At the moment they are set to UK mode and seem quite low from the centre to right of the car, presumably because they are limited in how high they can be set by the UK beam pattern \__ \__ which kicks-up higher to the left?

Interestingly I complained to my dealer about the level in my Fabia a couple of times and I've now noticed that they have been set to "flat beam", presumably to achieve the above effect? My Fabia xenons have a better beam pattern than my Octy and seem to put more light where I want it even though the lamps don't seem quite as bright?

Finally, what is the routine for unplugging the xenons without several 000'sV kick?!

Didn't know you could 'flat beam' the xenons, the left hand kick is a tad excessive IMO.

Unplug the entire light fitting and it won't be able to give you a 15Kv belt. Follow the procedure for removing the headlamp fitting in it's entirety, use Mater's rather brilliant guide. It's in the sticky guide here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/changing-headlights-continental/81652/

The plug is on each corner, looking at the front of the car:

Left hand fitting, plug in on the bottom left

Right hand fitting, plug is on the bottom right.

They are awkward to remove so be careful with them.

Cheers, I've seen the various guides to unplugging but no mention of not getting fried whilst doing it!

As you say, the left kick is huge and must affect the permissible height for setting the lights. With the flat beam I'm hoping for more of that light on the tarmac, not up in the bushes!

Will be an ideal time to fit some Osram Nightbreakers and xenon sidelight bulbs too!
