ok no probs, thanks anyway, looks like im gonna be radio and phoneless for a week then :(

Hmm... why? Get the radio serial number and call a Skoda dealer of your choice. They are able to give you the radio code on the phone (maybe with some delay).

looks like thatys what im gonna have to do. will contact the garage first tomorrow to see if they have the code on record as im sure they said they kept it on record just in case. just no radio or carphone till then.. know any good songs to sing on a long journey??

If it is the original radio for that car, fit it turn it on and start the car, it may recognise it and allow it to work.

Yup, if the radio's ever been in the car before, then turn the radio on to SAFE then turn on the ignition.

The ECU, convenience unit stores the code.

Small correction, the "comfort coding" you refer to is stored in the instrument cluster. :)

Yeap thanks all i got it done at 5.30pm tonight after getting nowhere with skoda uk, skoda assist (the same if you ask me) and the pillocks at the skoda garage i got the car from.

Skoda told me i should have been given the code when i got the car and i would have to take a day out to get to my skoda dealer. I rang them up to be told the car would have to come in as they couldnt access ELSA without the car and i would need to bring in proof if ID. They would also look onto my file to see what the PDI showed for the radio code (suprise suprise wasnt written down).

So after working my backside off and flying around on two wheels all afternoon I managed to get out of work at 5pm (earliest in a while) and shoot down through the rush hour to newbury. Was told when i phoned them that they couldnt do it tonight as their technicians go home at 5.15, so after offering a cash bribe and reminding them of their poor service and the lack of radio code when i bought it they agreed to do it tonight!!! :)

Still not the end, the dealership manager then had his 2 pence worth too, telling me my car wasnt how it was sold to me and had been altered against warrenty, so i pointed out that if you ask a vag garage to add and take off options that they can and it doesnt affect warrenty, when asked about maxidot i said "maxiwot ;)" They werent gonna even give me the code till i raised my voice and threatened to make more noise, also reminded them that today i have been rather quiet to them on the phone and if they thought i had made their lives hell today then they were wrong. With that they got the code down, gave me the code and bid me on my way ;) Dont ever p--s me off ;)
