I have just bought myself a nearly new Race Blue Vrs Petrol Hatch after many months of deliberations on whether to replace my very common (in beige/silver), 'boring' but very reliable, 4 year old Avensis D4D.

I'd only seen a handful of VRS Octavia's around the north...& thought they looked great, all the reviews were positive so I have gone for it. It's against my religion to keep a car for too long...and I'd had the Avensis a while.

First impressions are a bit mixed, but I must admit the grin on my face gets bigger every day. I've had a few niggles which will hopefully sort (mostly the same grumbles as others on here...cruise wasn't working (fixed), 'grumbling' from the steering, missing alloy centre cap, some grounding out when entering my drive last night & the fearsome fuel consumption (compared to an Avensis D4D anyway!))

Over the last fortnight, I've started to see loads ! On Saturday alone I spotted 3 in less than an hour...& they were all Race Blue ! Two out near Westhill (one at Costco/other on dual c/way) + one in Aberdeen. I've also seen a yellow one twice at the 'Makro' roundabout...a colour I must admit I just didn't fancy...but I have to admit it looks great in the metal !!

So how many of us are in the NE? Just curious really...

I was in Edinburgh this weekend in my VRs but obviously that isn't NE Scotland.

Superb drive though between Scotland and Newcastle, especially on a Sunday.

Hello fellow North easterner, I'm in the Broch, but have been known to park in Coscos.

Running my second Octy, this one near 6 years old, cos I can't decide what to buy next.

I'm displaying the Briskoda sticker on the high level brake light, and have lots of X's in my number plate.

Hope all your little problems stay fixed.

I work in Inverurie and live closeby. BTW - there is a street in Kintore with 3 vRS's ... one blue, one silver and one black.

Exactly why I opted for the more stealthier option... silver Admittedly I went for race blue in the beginning but became bored of it after a while after seeing just about every vRS in that colour! (I sense I'm in a minority though!)

Agreed the silver & black ones are a bit 'stealthier'...the blue looks great, but does stick out a fair bit !!!

blue must be a popular colour up there..I have friends in westhill and was visiting a couple of weeks ago and I saw 2 blue ones in the tesco car park there..thankfully my black one didnt make me appear to be jumping on the blue bandwagon

Oh my SWMBO used to teach(secondary) in Aberdeenshire , she might know yours or you.

We are both Primary, so unless she was at Broch Academy probably not!

I am in Angus to but up in Aberdeenshire once a week, Glasgow 2-3 times per week. Silver is stealthy and easier to keep clean! I must admit I like blue better.

aberdeen was bloomin audi city though! all the oil companies must have them on their company car list..every new TT in the country must be heading there! (including one my mate was getting!)

More than a few R8's been sold in Aberdeen too.

Aye, When we go to Costco in Westhill my "humble" L&K just disappears in a sea of Audi's and Land Rover gas guzzlers

If it was an estate, sorry Combi, then it may well have been me. I've been to Costco loads lately.

I am still here too...come in from the south side & everyday pass another Race Blue on 'the drive' going the opposite way...in fact I usually see a few Vrs's...mostly black...but saw another one in Race Blue today. My mate has just bought the exact same as mine, but diesel...loves it. I couldn't help but look at the new ones in the showroom, when he was buying...love the seats on the Ltd Ed...but not the wheels !

Still think my car is a cracking looking motor...but would be much happier if I can get a few wee niggles sorted & it didn't seem to attract all the boy racers & dafties out there!

Who else in Aberdeenshire has a Race Blue Estate? Lots of hatches going about but I've only seen one other blue combi and it wasn't a local reg.

I had one for 18 months! But now have a red hatch.
