Factory weight?

Featured Replies

the Ibiza FR is available in 5 Door, just rare as rocking horse ****

I know- I did consider one instead of the vRS.

I have seen a standard Fabia vRS on a weighbridge with no one in it, hardly any fuel etc. and it topped in at 1320 without driver.

Oil, With your claim of around the 1180 mark, I think you were hallucinating.

If you can go on this weighbridge whenever you like, please take a picture of it with the weight.

wieghed it again today at work,1210 with a bit more fuel in it,i'm going to ignore the keyboard warrior as he has nothing useful to say,in fact don't bother replying to me as you are now on my iggy list:thumbup:

and putting a pic on would be useless cos a know all like you would still carry on disputing it,kids a bit younger than you often pretend they know everything, but by your age they have usually grown out of it.

Boing!

I posted this over on seatcupra.net. Figure it might be of some use here too...

Hi, have been looking into using eibach suspension on the cordoba but I am probably over-thinking the situation as I have too much information to hand!

The scenario is - I have all the eibach technical data sheets for the various springs that they supply for the Polo 9N, fabia 6Y and Ibiza/cordoba 6L. What I find odd is they supply the Polo GT TDI 130 and the fabia VRS with the same spring kit, but the Ibiza FR/Cupra gets a different, less meaty one. (the rear springs are identical but the fronts are thinner) What's more, the cordoba kit is the same as this, despite the car being quite different in terms of weight distribution. (on the fabia, the kit for the saloon/estate is different to the hatch)

One thing that explains this is that the ibizas/cordobas are apparently much lighter than the fabia or polo for some unknown reason. I've had a bit of a search and the threads I found gave no definitive answer as to why this is the case. Can anyone shed any light?

I've complied a list of kerb weights for the various cars in question using the data on Parker's Some of it is right, some of it is wrong!

Polo

GT TDI 130 (3dr)................1319 (i suspect it should be 1319 -> 3dr, 1344 -> 5dr)

GT TDI 130 (5dr)................1319

sport TDI 130 (3dr)............1344

sport TDI 130 (5 dr)...........1344

Fabia

VRS.....................................1315

PD100 Elegance Hatch.......1235

SDI Saloon.........................1245

PD100 Elegance Estate......1270

SEAT

Cordoba SE PD130................1238 (my instruction manual says 1318Kg with driver)

Cordoba S PD100..................1188 (my instruction manual says 1268Kg with driver)

Ibiza Fr PD130 (3dr late)........1180

Ibiza Fr PD130 (5dr late)........1205

Ibiza Fr PD130 (3dr early)......1236

Ibiza Fr PD130 (5dr early)......1259

Ibiza Sport PD130 (3dr).........1236

Ibiza Sport PD130 (5dr).........1259

Ibiza Cupra PD160 (3dr)........1177

Ibiza Cupra PD160 (3dr)........1215

From my skoda's manual, the skoda figures look right to me but the seat ones look wrong, at least from the cordoba point of view. It looks like the weight of a driver is subtracted from the ibiza/cordoba weights, but not from the polo or fabia

With the corrected weight, the kerbweight of my car in the same league as the vRS and GT TDI.

If anyone fancies chipping in with their own manual's figure fell free!

So the question is, would I be better off with the Ibiza springs or the fabia/polo ones? Eibach knows best you might say, but it could be like Euro NCAP where they only tested the ibiza and they decided the cordoba would 'be right'

the weight of the fabia is nothing, look up the weight of a hyundai coupe 1998 2.0L SE, add 17" alloys, and 2 subs,

getting towards 1800kg!!!!

1315Kg with driver and passengers and fuel seems right to me

I had my car NCT'd(Irish version of MOT) the other week and the printout said my vRS weighted 1370kg (full tank of fuel, not sure if that included the weight of the driver)

I'm amazed they would quote the weight of the car with three passengers and luggage - what use is that? It could vary an amazing amount, while the weight of the car with a full tank of petrol would always be the same and would be a far more useful figure!
