Dealer hinting at 1.8T Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

I took my car in to Parkside Skoda in Bolton to have them check the clutch. Turns out nothing was wrong with it. While there, I was chatting to the salesman who indicated strongly that he thought there was going to be a 150 BHP petrol version of the Fabia vRS. Now that could mean reliable remaps up to 230 BHP. In a car the size and weight of the Fabia, that would be incredible! Suddenly, the small car is looking very appealing!

I think that would be a mistake. Now the 150 diesel would be interesting.

Just checked the weights and my Fabia weighs almost as much as my classic shape Scooby! I always knew these Skodas were solidly built! :D

The Ibiza is now available with that engine , so it would fit in a fabia.

I'd imagine the handling on an otherwise standard 235bhp fabia could be interesting.

What could they call it tho? Fabia VTR? :D

Bad bad :thumbdwn:

Take it the remap versions would be called Fabia VTS's

Fabia Sport? Fabia GT?

Fabia vRSE (vRS Eater)? :)

Why not just vRS? After all, SEAT have both petrol and diesel Leon Cupras.

has to be vRS and vRSooT :)

I posted a long time ago (just after i joined) that the salesman who sorted my deal told me there would be a 1.8T Fabia vRS.

I'm willing to bet it will be badged as the WRC though ;)

Didn't someone somewhere say the petrol vRS would come out a year or so after the diesel edition?

*NB: It could have been speculation on briskoda, but it rings a bell....

I thought it was always decided the vRS would only be a diesel? It would be nice to see a petrol model in the line up though, and maybe it could have a 3 door bodyshell too...

Found this article from last June... has this just been on the cards for a while, or was the idea scrapped after the article was published and is only just coming around again?

EDIT: Sorry, meant to quote Stimps! :)

Going back a while, there was talk of a 2.0 litre petrol Fabia, having a chat with my local friendly Skoda owner while booking my car in for a service, he mentioned that 4 of these WERE brought to the UK, for the press to have a drive .

However, the press never got their hands on them, as the ' drive by wire ' accelerator had unacceptable lag on them, the techie engineers could not resolve this problem, they even flew in the top engineer from parent VW, to no avail , the cars were put back on the transporter, and taken back to the Czech Republic.

Just double checked the Skoda site, there is a 2 litre version available, anyone seen or driven 1 ?

I don't think the 2 litre is anything special - just the 115bhp engine? Any reviews I've read have recommended the 1.4-16v 100bhp engine or the PD TDI's.....

skoda.co.uk has 9 used 2.0 Elegance Fabias for sale in both hatch and estate forms.

Come with 15" wheels and look quite nice. Shame about the Golf IV GTi engine.

It is unfortunately just the Golf GTi 8v engine that was first used, IIRC, in the mkIII Golf. Bit underpowered. My old 1.4 16v had more power than the 2.0! :D

I have a 2.0, bought it as a demo 14,000 miles ago now! It is a fantastic car and just as economical as my 1.4 that I had previously! It is not really fast but it is very relaxed to drive with loads of low down torque and I regularly get over 40 mpg from it!

Really love the Fabia, between the last one and this had a BMW 3 series, Merc E class and a Toyota Corolla but have to say that I think that the fabia really is a great car and as good as anything that I have owned.

We are a bit of a Fabia family now, we have 4 between us!!!! and all have been excellent!

From what I can see from skoda.co.uk it makes alot of sense as a nearly-new purchase.

I'll recommend it to my parents who may be looking to replace their aging Carisma (and I didn't recommend that).

well, if your parents are interested then I have been considering changing to a vRS so mine could be up for sale, much cheaper than those on Skoda's website!

Hmm, I'd be interested in a 1.8T Fab in two or three years time, so they needn't hurry...

They may be looking to buy in early '05 when some investments come in so not anytime soon and it would be to be an estate to meet their load-lugging requirements.

Anyway, they'll probably decide that the Carisma will go on another 2 years and spend the money on a holiday.

While at universty I used to work at a Skoda Dealer during my holidays. They had a demo 2.0 which was fairly quick but I think the TDI was better. Shame I graduated before the fabia vRS was launched!

Have heard though that the Fabia is to be face-lifted this year with a whole new model due out next year sometime...
