new poster on here so hello. I have an octavia 52 plate ambiente, noticed horrible noise when steering so stopped and found no oil in steering reservoir. are there different oils available and what should I be looking for in terms of why it has all gone ie leaks etc

Hi and welcome to Briskoda.

First thing to remember is that oil should NOT be put into the power steering system, it will rot the rubber seals. The liquid used is called 'fluid' and comes in several types and grades - your hand-book will show you the correct type or see your dealer.

The same type of fluid is put in automatic gearboxes.
