Hi Stu first of all can l ask what is needed to retro fit the maxi dot? And is there anything that l will need to complete the job?

Thanks

You need a maxidot dash panel - That's the only hardware you need.

The dashpanel carries the immobilisor so it will need to be coded either with the dealer VAS tool or VAG-COM.

There have been quite a few put in recently by members here.

could l buy the maxi dot display from yourself ? or would l go to the main dealer? Or could the main dealer fit the maxi dot if l bought the maxi dot from yourself?

You can get them from a dealer or there is a chance I could get you one.

Your dealer could fit one if you provided it to them. It's just the same procedure that they would have followed if they had replaced your one earlier this week.

I assume you would be cheaper rather than going to the main dealer? The only problem is that l don't have paypal

I have sent you a Private Message.

My dad's rev counter has jammed between 12-15000 rpm, and will not move to zero.

Blimey, even my RX-8 would struggle to achieve that ;) It happily revs to 9.5K for the uninitiated :D

Just to add.

The VAG com has an output test for the display panel, might just be worth running this to maybe nudge the rev counter into operation. Worth a chance if you know a VAGcommer!

Surprise yet again the rev counter has jammed yet again, please see attached picture. Will have to phone Skoda (parks of hamilton) yet again to try and get it booked in.
