Some of you are now aware of our taking on a new 1.9td pd 4x4 Amb later this week. Paperwork 98% done. However we are out of country until friday, driving our 240,000km Nissan on yet another 1000km trip, so car will have to wait until our return. We were told by the dealers, that this was the first AMB 4x4 here in Croatia, due to shortages. There is a 3 months waiting list for this model Octy, and the new Nissan Qashqai over 18 months !!! Skoda has sold some Scouts we understand, and of course many saloons etc. Now it appears that the reason for this shortage of AMB 4x4 is the police !!! they have ordered 950 Octavia a mixed load, and of course made the order some months back. We were lucky it seems, I take it that the UK has a very short waiting list for any car ??

not really, sometimes it can be months. i ordered a new peugeot 106 years ago and that took over a month for a standard build on a cheap little mass produced car.

Ordered my factory new vRS 22nd Sept, so its 2 months tomorrow. Still waiting but heard it arrived at the docks a few days ago, just waiting for delivery to my local dealer for PDI. Due to other commitments, I can't collect until 1st Dec... :(

Why do they send them on a ship from land locked Czech Republic ?

Don't know how they transport them, probably to us they use car transporters. I deal in freight, but never auto's so don't know. I have noticed on re-looking at some mobile shots we took last saturday at the dealers, a day after it arrived from customs, that there seem to be marks on the alloy wheels on one spoke, is that a sign that the cars was strapped in some way ???

This mobile( sorry) pic you can see two black marks on each wheel, this is on both sides of car , what is that ??

beacuse it'll be more direct, cheaper and quicker.

My black VRS estate took the full 10 weeks that were quoted by the dealer at the time of order being placed. Not the worst wait I've ever had for a new car, from memory a Toyota MR2 roadster with a few factory fitted options took longer.

Hi Wilkopilko, sorry !! a draw would have put both of us in, but a good match. 4 Mercs were offered by a Russian billionaire, why not Skoda ?? anyway 1 for the keeper, and for who ever scored, or at least won the match for Croatia, letting Russia in.

Looks like weekend before we get our hands on our new 4x4 Octy and snow is melting !!! so its not all good news this end.

They send them via a train to the port.

I don't think there are many Octavia in the UK at the moment in 'stock' so most cars are now factory order.
