front light washers - not on Octavia Elegance?

Featured Replies

Hi

had my Octavia for a week or so... is it me or does brochure say that car comes with front light washers?

I have only blank spacers on the bumper where presumably the washer jets would sit and spray the lights... everyone the same too?

Thanks :) to everyone that got back to me re the curious case of the leather gear stick **** (again in brochure) which is clearly leatherette - oddly I was really looking forward to a leather stick :(

Dealer says Skoda rear sun blinds probably no longer available in UK (he'd previously agreed to throw them in with the deal on the car)... I my go back an ask for freebie leather gear **** and handbrake cover instead...

good to chat

The Elegance gets headlight washers as standard and they are hidden behind the little covers under the light fittings.

They will pop out and spray the lights when the headlights themselves are on and then every 5th time or when the lights and/or ignition switched off and back on.

Yes - I have the same little plastic rectangles on my 4x4. Not sure how much use they are; it's not as if you can see them doing anything anyway! Another dubious gimmick rather than anything practical?

Not at all, the washers are effective in the winter months where the salt and crap from the road sprays up onto the lights.

They are also a legal requirement along with auto levelling when a car has factory fitted xenons.

They are a pain in the *** in the summer months especially after you have washed your car, flick the washer stalk quickly towards you on the first winscreen wash and the headlight washers will not fire, you then have 4 other goes in the same journey where they won't activate again.

Oh and they are great if your mate is alongside your car with his window open

Very useful for stubborn tailgaters too. :D

And those annoying ******** that jump out and try to 'clean' your windscreen with an old sponge and some watery washing up liquid crap.

BOOOF!! one soaked illegal immigrant

I agree

You just need to take the fuse out (no; 28 if I remember correctly) and that kills the lamp wash; then put it back in the winter.

Reminder to self; put lamp washer fuse back in!

PS> If you have the oblique rectangular bits just below the headlamps - then you have lamp wash. Plain bumper - no wash.

Ah yes I saw the chrome covers when I was having a browse.

Very classy

Those along with the chrome door handles and the various chrome strips and you can have your Octavia looking like a 1970's Datsun

You need to be dead careful with chrome IMO
