Front arm rest fitted today

Featured Replies

Hi guys i got one of those arm rests off ebay and fitted it today. i will put some pics up in the next post. not to hard to do but the centre console needed a little cutting it fit the upright in. looks great and makes the ride so much more relaxed.

not bad for 8.99 plus delivery opposed to oem for £120+

my centre console lifted straight out. some require taking 2 torx screws out which are under neathe the inside bit of the rear cup holder

centre console removed, you will need to disconnect the cig lighter to completely remove it the unit

took me 1 hour in total including junior hacksawing the centre console to make the hole bigger.

enjoy

£8.99? Wow, that's cheap. Linky? :P

Looking good, but the cutting you've done at the base looks pretty rough?

What's the quality of the unit like? I've heard mixed reports on the materials used which has put me off 'till now.

By the way, you have the same carpet as us.:D

get a bit of thin rubber windscreen seal, and fit it round the base, nicley cover that little bit of untidy cutting:D

junior hacksaws cutting in the ash tray slot isnt easy. im sorry for rough edges. jeez guys lol

the quality isnt too bad. the p&p is 24.99 but still its so comfy and has a large storage space inside it too.

this is an advert like it but not from the seller i got mine from its more expensive and i reckon is one i got just hes selling it for profit. do searches for leather arm rest on ebay from time to time and the seller is vwinchina

ps where do you get windscreen sealant from mate?

its some rubber trim you would want, don't know where you would find some, but look around the little car messer shops,i'm sure you would find somthing suitable:thumbup:

Nice job.

It's standard in my car but a utter PITA when it down. I don't use it as it just gets in the way. Makes a good dog guard tho.

Sorry mate, didn't mean it in a bad way. Would be worth looking at getting some rubber to tidy up the edges... i'm a bit anal like that. Ignore me!!

Thanks for link

no worries the one in the link is more expensive than normal. it usualy starts off at 8.99 but has a buy it now price of 11.99.

maybe sum sealant may make it look tidier.

tbh i love it when its down. gear changes are at a flick of the wrist instead of an arm movement and the handbroake works fine too. i just use two fingers to lift the handle. ohh the comfort

thats one for a mk2 octy mate dont buy it if mk1

  • 4 weeks later...

In the first post a cup holder is fitted, is the cup holder a standard item? do you have a part number? just looking for a better solution than the one at the end of the centre console.

  • Author

yes the cup holder is a standard item on the vrs i beleieve. however i just wedge the drink between the armrest anbd the side of the chair. holds the maccy ds drinks a treat.
