Front mount of amp and wiring question in fabia

Featured Replies

Greetings!

I would like to install a small 2-channel amp for driving the aftermarket 6.5" front components. It's a flat 42mm speaker because of very limited depth in Fabia, hope this doesn't influence sound quality.

I don't want to install a sub (I need the boot space), but for still having some low frequency I dynamat the front doors. I have already removed doorcard and inner skin.

With no sub, I plan to install a small (20x15cm) 2 channel amplifier somewhere in the front.

Have anyone experience in installing an amp in the front? What are the alternatives for the best mounting position? Underseat, somewhere in the dash?

Also, since doors are apart, I'd like to put new speaker wiring. Anybody has pictures of how to put cable in the tube connecting the car body to the door?

Thanks!

It kinda depends on the dimensions of the Amp really.

The smallest I found is this (207 x 52 x 148 mm):

Probably under the seat then looking at the size.

I also think that probably the underseat position would be the only good solution. This is a Fabia 1.4 16v model, continental (passenger seat on right side), seat has no drawer, no CD changer, and passenger side not raisable.

The front down side of the seat has a plastic trim, maybe this can be removed, and maybe the amp can be fed under it without removing the seat.

Has anyone already installed an amp under such seat? Can it be installed without removing the seat? Any help, tricks, link or picture would be very appreciated.

The trim can be removed, look here for tips:

Although that's for the octavia, I think the panel is held on in the same way; 2 torx screws.

For getting power to it, there's probably 2 options; down the side of the transmission tunnel and through the carpet or under the trim below the door; I'd go transmission tunnel (same with the speaker wire). To remove this you need to undo every torx bolt you can find below the ashtray and rear centre trim, it should just lift off from memory, the gearstick gaiter unclips.

Good luck,

Rob

is it that bad to remove the seats? I had an amp under the seat in my first car (fiesta yay) and found that after making sure the amp was gonna fit under the seat it was just much easier to do a neat job with cables under the carpets with the seat out. spose it depends on just how well screwed in Skoda seats are, better than ford i'd wager
