Neutral Noise.

Featured Replies

Hi . Having had my fist fabia for over two weeks now, I love it. However it has an annoying rattle from the gearlever area when put into neutral. Does anyone know how to rectify this problem before I start to rip it to pieces.

Also it has a FMIC but only the bottomhalf is open for air flow, the numberplate covers the top half, has anyone removed the numberplate and holder and gained much more performance?? many thanks . karl.

it is a well known fault the gearstick rattle,is the car under warenty still?

one or two have removed the no plate but imho you will gain nothing, except showing off your fmic:thumbup:

My dad's VRS had the same problem and after 8000 miles it has worked itself out

Tell you what goddamn rattle was doing my swede in on my VRS - when I pulled off in 1st or hit reverse I got a deep hum that sounded like a third rate death metal bands' bass guitar... I eventually traced it to the passenger side seatbelt socket thing which was vibrating against the side of the handbrake console at certain engine speeds... a quick operation with some black insulating tape and a thin spongy pad thingy and it was fixed... onto the next rattle!

having the front mount exposed is ok for a while, then you get pssd off with the mesh staying perfectly straight, i put mine back to standard, see my profile pic.

Re: Your FMIC, The apperture size isn't necessarily the restriction. Though I'll bet there's no streamlining behind the crash bar to aid airflow. Ideally, you'd have ducting leading forwards from the edges of the FMIC for a few inches. Problem is a) making it and B) making it out of something flexible enough to fall apart in a crunch before it crunches the FMIC.
