Inner door skin - which side to sounddeaden?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I know many of you have done sounddeadening the front doors. Which side of the inner skin did you do?

1. outside

17952.attach

2. inside (with window rails)

17953.attach

3. both

BTW, I will put one layer of dynamat (or should there be more layers?)

Thanks!

I would guess outside if I were doing it.

i only did the part behind the door card and directly behind the speaker you want to try and seal the inside of the door from the inside of the car if that makes sence.

but the more the better though, only stopping once your door hinges begin to struggle!

It doesn't really matter in purely deadening terms as you are adding mass to the panels to damp them.

Depending on what you use and it's ability to withstand water, I would suggest a layer of something like Dynamat Extreme on the outer door skin and then another layer on the doors inner skin around the speaker and on any large expanses of metal.

After that a few bits on the plastic speaker surrounds and door card carefully placed should stop any resonance from the speaker housings etc.
