Buying advice

Featured Replies

hi everyone, ive joined this site as i have fallen in love with the octavia vrs.

i have been looking everywhere for a yellow hatchback, with low-ish miles for a reasonable price and have found this

Skoda : VRS

i was looking to buy another yellow one off piston heads which had slight previous fire damage but had been fully repaired, but when the guy bothered to get back to me it had been sold :( it was on an 03 plate with only 41k miles for only 4350 quid. Perfect!!! but its gone.

i no it seems like im asking alot for little money but im not wanting to spend that much. i have 8k but am only lookin to spend 5 - 5.5k max so i have money left over for subtle 'improvements' lol.

what do you think of this one?

the owner says it is usual vrs spec but has no cruize control which is something i wanted. ive managed to get him down to 5200 with 12 months mot but needs taxing in january, and will shortly need 2 front tyres. its also on a 2001 Y plate, and im abit scared about going back to an old car as i currently drive an 07 plate C2 by Loeb.

is there any major things i should be looking for in this car for its year or are they usually ok? itis a long way for me to go to look at it so would be going to look with the intention to buy, but dont want to buy other peoples problems. i thought they were the best built cars EVER till i joined this site and found some people have had massive headaches with theres.

any advice or information on the car would be greatly appreciated.

(oh, and im Gary btw :) )

Has he changed the water pump? It's not that likely to last until the next scheduled cambelt change.

Also, any sign of rattles or squeaks from the front end over bumps (probably ARB bushes or droplinks, or radiator bushes), or a mooing sound from the rear brakes when reversing? The cure for that one is a different rear brake compound.

Hiya,

The vRS is usually very good providing it has been treated well and maintained properly. Personally I find the price for the quoted vRS a bit on the high side, but that's just my opinion. Are you specifically looking for a yellow one, or are other colours considered too?

Probably a lard butt too as he's completely flattened the bolster.

Oh, i thought i was the only GarryC in the world :(

Welcome to the site mate.

Regards

Garry

Can you live with silver, if yes PM Quinten, hes got a beauty for sale & its fully modded, around 325 bhp & its been built properly, cost a small fortune, it will be quicker than anything you could build for your budget

Has that been lowered?

yeah sorry forgot bout that !!!!!!! 35mm by previous owner.

Sits really nicely :) Looks a nice example to me.

thanks

Had it 2 years, and still absolutely love it, its going to kill me getting rid of it, i use a rover 220 diesel for work so it sits in the garage all week, its a waste. dont want to use it every day either coz it will cost me £15 a day to work and back. so its a fabia Vrs for me.......

Has that been lowered?

That was my first thought - looks great at that height. Might think about dropping mine a little...
