Hi to you all im new & confused

Featured Replies

I have a octavia classic tdi 2007 that i use as a taxi, i have two problems when the car has been stationary for say 10 minutes [with everything turned off] it won't start unless it's pushed, then goes like a bomb, had it checked at our local skoda garage [ aren't they rude] they say taxi meter is draining battery 0.7amps when nothing else turned on hence now we turn everything off, but it's still happening anyone got any ideas please? And secondly a crunching noise between 1st & 2nd gear form new, been told again by same garage the drivers are to small & need a cushion behind them [ heights vary from 5'3 to 5'11] any advice wouldbe great thank you

0.7amps would take a very long time to drain the battery, unless it was nearly dead or more likely needed the terminals to be cleaned and tightened...Starter motor and terminals ok?

.. Sounds like an independant electrical person would be a good choice to hunt down the problem if a routine check and terminal cleaning didnt help...Electrical gremlins are a bit of a pain to sort sometimes...

I understand that it's not uncommon in a lot of gearboxes to feel stiff or even have a crunch in 1-2, especially when cold - there are some posts on just changing the longlife oil or using a different weight/type to help.

Also a little cleaning/plastic-friendly lube of the top of the shifter + cables and a gearkn*b adjust (do a search - easy DIY) can help ease things...

I think as your car is still under warranty you should put it back in the hands of the dealer, or another dealer.

It certainly isn't correct.

Next time it breaks down call out Skoda Assist and they should tell you why it's not starting.

Hi welcome to Briskoda.

Hiya.

Something's not right with both of those faults, and frankly, I think it's your dealership! Whereabouts are you?

Welcome!:)

oops missed that - if it's under warranty take it to another dealer - preferably a business competitor to the first one, and tell them that the first one wasn't able to sort it. That'll get them started with a fire under them....
